I'm just taking it as an indication that someone is in the office at L&C doing something with application files. Even if it's just a secretary printing them out for the committee to read at their next meeting, it's progress!JenDarby wrote:I updated to 1/3 as well, but that disclaimer on the top that date updates could mean pretty much anything diminished my excitement I had about it.

I'll go with that, progress is at least somewhat comforting.

I actually had not thought of this but it makes an eerie type of sense. Four date changes and three view-books.molazapuku wrote:Your file has been selected to receive an extra view book.

Or maybe a brochure of available brochures, and a letter about it.djjf39 wrote:I actually had not thought of this but it makes an eerie type of sense. Four date changes and three view-books.molazapuku wrote:Your file has been selected to receive an extra view book.

Re: Lewis & Clark 2011 Applicants
I never received ONE L&C view book. They either really hate, or really love me.
(I think all my view books likely went to my previous address, as I didn't move/change it on LSAC until a month after taking the LSAT. The new tenant there must love coming home to a mailbox full of view books.)

Re: Lewis & Clark 2011 Applicants
Frustrated with the waiting game, I decided to call L&C to see if I could get any more information, especially considering that they're not quite following what they told rinkrat in December. They didn't give me any general information about mailings or committee meetings, but the person I spoke with did look up my file and said that it was under review now, so I should likely hear from them "within a few weeks"...
"Under review now" was the only real information, but in case anyone is interested:
Submitted 10/1
Complete 10/4
Complete 12/2 (date change)
Complete 12/20 (date change)
1 viewbook received 12/30.
That's where I'm at now...Sorry there wasn't more info to share.

Thanks for calling, Orko.
"Within a few weeks." Sigh.
I am suffering from Severe Delayed Gratification over here! Only 1 of my 7 schools has sent me a decision, and my new snowboard that I ordered has been delayed by a week.
I'm going to experiment and see if I can stay off TLS and not think about law school at all for a day. (I'll probably last about 3 hours.)

Yeah, that didn't last long. I got my acceptance from Washington & Lee which of course drove me right back to TLS.deja wrote:Here is your preemptive welcome back to the clubrinkrat19 wrote:Thanks for calling, Orko.

W&L had a SEVEN DAY turnaround from submission to acceptance, no joke. And that included the NYE holiday. If they can manage it...

Are there any inexpensive neighborhoods left in Portland?

Edit: The interwebs are hard! I quoted myself instead of editing my first post. I'll just go away now.rinkrat19 wrote:Short answer: No.orangefanta wrote:Are there any inexpensive neighborhoods left in Portland?
Longer answer: Depends on what kind of place you'd settle for, but even shitty neighborhoods are ridonk expensive. I have a friend whose 700sq ft house is worth something like $300K, within sight of actual hookers standing on streetcorners and a meth house that burned down.
My answer: There's nothing wrong with suburbs! (Except Gresham. There's definitely something wrong with Gresham.)

Depends on what you think is inexpensive- my wife and I just bought a house here, before that we were renting a 3 bed two bath in a nice neighborhood for $1395 a month, you could get an apartment for $900-1200 in a good area. If you're from L.A. that sounds great if you're from Texas not so much. Portland's a great city, low cost of living but plenty to do if you can handle the rain.

Re: Lewis & Clark 2011 Applicants
If you look, reasonable, nice apts are definitely available. Over the past few years I lived in a huge apt in Tanasbourne, for $700, which is about 10 miles outside of downtown. Last year I was two blocks from the river downtown in SW in an awesome building for $690, 1000 sq ft, even including garage parking. Now I live in NW Portland right by all the bars/max/etc in a studio for $675.orangefanta wrote:Are there any inexpensive neighborhoods left in Portland?

Re: Lewis & Clark 2011 Applicants
Thanks for the input. JenDarby, what was the name of the neighborhood where you found the $690 place? And which neighborhood are you in now?
Is it possible to find a place on the east side and bike over the Sellwood bridge to L&C?

Re: Lewis & Clark 2011 Applicants
Just to clarify a little, Tanasbourne is two towns west of Portland. It may be about 10 miles from downtown on the highway, but it's definitely not a quick commute at rushhour.JenDarby wrote:If you look, reasonable, nice apts are definitely available. My requirements checklist thingy is empty now too, and I know the checklist of items was definitely there on L&C's status checker before.Pink wrote:Hmmm...still at complete 1/3/11...but all my requirements/checkboxes at the bottom have disappeared. My timeline:
Submitted 11/3/10
Received/Complete 11/3/10
Complete 12/3/10 (date change)
...possibly other date changes that I can't remember...
Complete 1/3/11 (date change)
So I'm going on 9 1/2 weeks since my intial 'complete' date. (FWIW: Slightly above median GPA, well above 75th% LSAT, 8 yrs WE, applying to part-time/evening program.)

My app went complete 12/6 according to the status checker, this wait is killing me...

Those are my exact status changes as well (though my original was 11/8 I think). I'm above median on GPA and way above 75th on LSAT as well. Oh, dear. I'm sorry! I'd post a lolcat or something else silly in apology, but I'm at work and the IT Nazis block everything fun.stheskier wrote:I still have the checklist (complete 11/3), but I am a long-shot, soo it sounds like you guys are in. Good luck!
