Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
OOS applicant. I am trying to decide if I should toss an app in to UNC.
# - 3.40/167.
with no fee waiver and 2 required essays I am wary. Anyone have any insight on this?

You might have a good chance to get into b/c of your LSAT but UNC is a crapshoot for OOS. Prob won't give any money either.SrLaw wrote:OOS applicant. I am trying to decide if I should toss an app in to UNC.

That is what I was thinking. 2 required essays was also a bit annoying. Anyone have any luck with a fee waiver from UNC?

Anyone receive their 'official' acceptance letter via snail-mail yet? I was one of the batch acceptances on 12/22 via email, but my mailbox has gone wanting....

Same. Phew. I live in a shady neighborhood and was worried my mail was stolen over Christmas (the same thing happened last year). I wasn't looking forward to explaining that to admissions. :-\lvsmithmarsh wrote:In the same boat...CloseToGood wrote:Anyone receive their 'official' acceptance letter via snail-mail yet? Also - to people talking about the two required essays, it's not actually required that you write two. If you read closely they say you can just answer the two questions in one essay. I did that and I was fine.

I'm in-state with 3.26/166. Even though my GPA is a bit low, I have a feeling I've got a pretty good shot. Thoughts?

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I think you're definitely going to be competitive, especially in-state. I would think that with those numbers, you would be WL/In at worst. But yeah, UNC definitely leaves people on that waitlist for an absurdly long time.jackattack17 wrote:yeah, you're looking good.steven86 wrote:I'm in-state with 3.26/166. I was accepted via email pre-Xmas. Anybody gotten a letter yet? Or more importantly, merit scholarship offers?

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I'm a 3.27/167 instate, only issue is I applied a week ago, kinda late in this competitive game.
I received receipts for my payments (both lsac and unc's payment company) but no application received e-mail from UNC.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Letter in today's mail... FINALLY. It's dated January 10, but I didn't receive it until today, and I'm in NC. Not much info in the letter other than what was in the email, save for info about the seat deposit and info about a pending admitted students website. No scholarship info... though I'm not entirely expecting $$ from UNC, I wonder if they include scholarship info (Chancellor's Scholars, etc.) in the initial letter or do it in a separate mailing.casualty wrote:I was accepted via email pre-Xmas. If anyone receives info from UNC regarding scholarships, would you mind posting? Just curious to know whether I can continue to keep hoping...

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Just got mine too, and no mention of $$ either. I called the admissions office and they said that they don't make scholarship decisions until the end of March. Seriously?! They said that was typical of law schools, but I was accepted to, and received a really attractive offer from, one of their main competitors back in November! It seems that my anxiously checking the mailbox every day since Dec 22 was a bit in vain...

So, just to clarify, "Ready for Review" does not mean under review on the UNC status checker, right? I have been sitting at ready for some months now and wonder if they will ever look at my app.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I think you're right. They didn't get their status checker up and running until 12/21, which is the day before I was accepted, so I don't remember exactly what it said on 12/21... maybe "Under Review"?Jeffro wrote:So, just to clarify, "Ready for Review" does not mean under review on the UNC status checker, right? UNC seems to walk to the beat of their own drum, though, so I don't know that I'd get too worked up about the message on the status checker.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
