Annnd... got the 'complete' email this morning (had JR1 earlier in the week!)
(went 'complete' on the status checker on Oct 7th) From what I've gathered, the out of sync notifications are the norm?

I think they send out those complete emails in batches. JR1 emails are not.Zatarra wrote:Annnd... got the 'complete' email this morning (had JR1 earlier in the week!)(went 'complete' on the status checker on Oct 7th) From what I've gathered, the out of sync notifications are the norm?

Received the "complete and under review" email today. Will be attending mosque, synagogue, and church services for the next 2+ weekends until I get my thumbs up/down. Gotta cover all the bases! As Ned Flanders once said, "I've even kept kosher just to be on the safe side."

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
I know I've seen this in a thread before but can't fine it now:
What % of JR1s are accepted?
What are the general questions in a JR1? do they tend to be general or focused on one's particular application?

I thought it was closer to 75%? and even higher than that for pre-thanksgiving JR1's?

Supposedly they sent out more JR1s last year than in previous years. But pre-thanksgiving are still almost locked.Knockglock wrote:That low?CastleRock wrote:about 800 out of 1300abitaman6363 wrote:I know I've seen this in a thread before but can't fine it now:

What are your passions
Why law?
Why Harvard?
I'm pretty sure the last 2 are almost always. But he also does personalize the call for some people, asking something along the lines of why does your background lead into law or prepare you for law, something like that.

Without being too specific... be prepared for a slightly tailored question, potentially on an aspect of your resume you might not expect, or structured as part of a multi-part question. Also, I'd think a bit on how each area of your resume relates to your decision to apply to law school, even if it seems tangential. I'd also recommend spending some time on the Harvard website as well, it helps to be at least a little familiar with the school!Knockglock wrote: I'm pretty sure the last 2 are almost always. Still, overall, it was pretty relaxed for one of the most potentially critical phone conversations in one's life!

What makes you say that there are more this year? Are you just assuming because the calls started a few weeks earlier?CastleRock wrote:Supposedly they sent out more JR1s last year than in previous years. Actually CR I agree with you, I remember a Harvard 1L saying somewhere that the rumor is there were more JR1s last cycle than before - like, around 1300.CastleRock wrote:We've already cleared this up. There's no evidence for this though I guess... I think the 880/1100~1200 comes from an interview that TS did (before JR?) so it could have changed, or it might not have.

Does anyone remember the people who didn't get JR2s after pre-Thanksgiving JR1 and if they had a particular reason to attribute this to?

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
The link to the blog in the jr1 email said ~1000-1200 interviews per year. The number of acceptances is usually 850-900. IIRC, the most recent class was a bit on, the smaller side as compared to past classes (560ish vs 600+). On my phone so dont really wanna surf for exact numbers.

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
So there were only 2 people last week that said they got a JR1 and so far only 1 person this week. Is this representative of the number of JR1s that are going out? Have they slowed down and have not been doing many? Or are very few people posting that they got one?

Meaning that the full process still has not started? Because I was thinking of it being the same as previous years, just two weeks earlier.rv11 wrote:Keep in mind that interviews started a few weeks earlier this year...playdough wrote:So there were only 2 people last week that said they got a JR1 and so far only 1 person this week. Well not necessarily, but maybe they'll do the same amount of JR1s but just spaced out over a longer timeframe. Just a guess.playdough wrote:Meaning that the full process still has not started? I got one last week but didn't post it here. I imagine there's others like that...
