BTW dook has nearly no academic standards for their athletes, at least in the revenue sports (unlike NU and Stanford)

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Northwestern doesn't have nearly as good sports as Stanford or Duke. Then again, Duke can't touch Stanford either.
Good publics with good sports (Michigan, Cal, UNC) don't have any standards whatsoever for their athletes.

Isn't that Hansbrough? He went to UNC.Renaixença wrote:crackberry wrote:Or Dook, if you consider that a "great academic school."Kronk wrote:tbf, if you're serious about athletics, you don't go to a great academic school unless it's Stanford.

I feel like that poster was trying to give Duke the ultimate burn by deliberately confusing it with UNC.crackberry wrote:Isn't that Hansbrough? Uh, you'd have to be pretty snobby to cut off before the top ten... (Stamford UGs tend to be, though)crackberry wrote:Or Dook, if you consider that a "great academic school."Kronk wrote:tbf, if you're serious about athletics, you don't go to a great academic school unless it's Stanford.
Duke only has one good sport, though.

Dook's lacrosse is pretty good (no need to make jokes). Their basketball program is good at getting knocked off early in the tourney.Kronk wrote: Uh, you'd have to be pretty snobby to cut off before the top ten... (Stamford UGs tend to be, though)

Credited. I was thinking about sports that people care about / get press coverage and money. But their lacrosse team is good. My school, for instance, is arguably the best in the nation at Cross Country and definitely the best at Skiing, but no one really cares, I've found.BioEBear2010 wrote:Dook's lacrosse is pretty good (no need to make jokes). I can only hope Duke basketball continues to blow.

Being the fourth best city in Connecticut will do that to us.Kronk wrote:Uh, you'd have to be pretty snobby to cut off before the top ten... Re: Stanford 2010!!!
clearly none of you have paid any attention to acc basketball this season. i'm fairly certain a team ranked first in their conference and fifth in the nation doesn't "blow." stanford isn't even .500 right now, let alone ranked. not that i'm hating on stanford, given their head coach is really a blue devil and all.Kronk wrote:Credited. Stanford accepts Cal students? I guess the rivalry really is one-sided. Congrats!

FWIW I think SLS is the "coolest" of the top 3. I get the impression they'd have the most interesting people

Eh. Even though SLS probably would have been my first choice among HYS, I think Yale wins in the "cool/interesting people" category. That's the general perception, anyway.CordeliusX wrote:FWIW I think SLS is the "coolest" of the top 3. I get the impression they'd have the most interesting people
