They used to. I looked on LSN and they first reported reserve last cycle was 2/13 and the first ding was reported on 2/19. This year's first reserve was 2/5 so I'm thinking we are in dangerous waters.......
Aaarrggh I wish they'd just send me a ding email quickly, I hate having false hope

I agree! I've been sitting in cold silence since September :/ It does seem like CLS has incorporated email into their decision making process much more this year.
Good- it doesn't make a lot of sense to send admit emails but then print out hard copy reject letters- maybe they would be trying to be nice and let us have something to tear up when we get the news?

Well, they sent out a bunch of reserve emails last week, and one reported acceptance.
well. i would say that is mostly inauspicious.
(thanks)
Three posters reported acceptances on the Friday before last, though! (January 29th)
sliding to the left...
auspicious |-------[]---------------|inauspicious
This sliding scale cracked me up. I feel like there should be an ongoing scale of the current level of auspicious-ness

I remember the last time I applied and got the small letter in the mail. I just didn't even open it because it only meant one thing!!! It would have been to sad to read.

Agreed, and it adds insult to the injury if you already know via email. But if it's the ONLY notification, it just doesn't make sense to waste money on the stamps and ink for rejections.

Every Monday I tell myself that if I don't get in this week, I would give up hope on Columbia. Then the week ends and I tell myself that I'll give Columbia another week.

Hi Everyone,
Just got rejection letter today in the mail. The letter was dated 2/10. I live in NY so I may have received my letter before many others. I am the first ding this cycle on law school numbers. Thin off white envelope. I went complete on 10/28. Good luck to everyone else.

Any word on whether the admissions office is closed today for Presidents Day?

I work at the university (in a different, unrelated office) and I'm at work today, so I assume they are as well. Undergrad and grad schools are also in session, so it would be surprising if they were closed.

There have been some on Mondays but it seems to be the least consistent day for decisions

Sounds like I'm just waiting for the snail mail reject. Gosh darn it Columbia, who in the world decided snail mail was the right approach for dings?

Me too- also snail mail makes it worse in that it seems like they're taking extra effort to reject me...

Yep! In via e-mail. Submitted early January, interview early February. GPA = 50th, LSAT > 75th. No named scholarship.
