I did have a minor C&F that in and of its self wouldn't have caused a ding. If anything it was the fact that I had to amend the statement as one if the facts was inaccurate in the initial statement. I know for a fact that Asha hates that, seems sketchy she said in a blog post.

So in a process where they're looking to ding people for just about anything...

That sucks man. =( I hear you about feeling like a failure. YLS is so pumped up on TLS--and for good reason. It's a great school. But at the same time, I think it can be easy to overestimate it solely because of external factors like rank. I, for one, had already decided that if I were to get accepted to all of HYS I'd pick S because of proximity to family, better 1L experience due to weather and outdoor activities, my desire to practice in CA, and some specific faculty members with academic expertise in my area of focus. Still, it hurts to get dinged by YLS but if I'm honest with myself it's more because I merely wanted to say I was "good enough." But Yale =/= "good enough" and thus not Yale =/= not "good enough." All are excellent schools. At this level of ranking I think its far more about fit than it is about ranking, and I think the minor details like weather are legitimate reasons to pick one over the other.

Then again, maybe I'm just sour grapes! And maybe I'll be homeless for picking based on weather. But at least it's easier to be homeless in the Cali sun than it is in New England!

Interesting though because so many people getting dinged seem to have some association with econ or finance (I'm partially an econ major and wrote my 250 on bank defaults).

I'm a Criminal Justice major. I wrote my (risky) 250 on tackling a shoplifter.
