I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear that. I wish everyone would undersell ASW to us ED-deferred people...until we hear back.franklyscarlet wrote:shntn wrote:I randomly checked flights just now and found the perfect one, and well within budget. ASW is the shit-- new friends (most of whom will end up attending since its so late), seeing our gorgeous school, Follies, and of course drinking with fabulous current students.

Apparently Johann spent the afternoon answering phones in the office. He tweeted about being polite when you call because you never know who's on the other end.

I think I submitted my request around the same time, and I just interviewed today. fwiw, the interview is just to gauge your interest in Northwestern and to ask an alumni questions about the school.cgw wrote:I can't imagine it would. curious about the deferral offer. do you have to work, or just wait, or what?bernaldiaz wrote:I never got an email but checked my status checker just because I saw some action in this thread and my decision letter was available, so for those of you who haven't received and email it may be worth it to log on. Wouldn't it be up to applicant what they do in the year?oaken wrote:curious about the deferral offer. do you have to work, or just wait, or what?bernaldiaz wrote:I never got an email but checked my status checker just because I saw some action in this thread and my decision letter was available, so for those of you who haven't received and email it may be worth it to log on. I don't know what the actual letter says, but the implication is that they love the person's numbers but wish they weren't a K-JD, i.e., wish they had work experience. Most people can't afford to sit around on their ass without doing SOME kind of work for a whole year.oaken wrote:curious about the deferral offer. do you have to work, or just wait, or what?bernaldiaz wrote:I never got an email but checked my status checker just because I saw some action in this thread and my decision letter was available, so for those of you who haven't received and email it may be worth it to log on. From my letter:oaken wrote:curious about the deferral offer. do you have to work, or just wait, or what?bernaldiaz wrote:I never got an email but checked my status checker just because I saw some action in this thread and my decision letter was available, so for those of you who haven't received and email it may be worth it to log on. Hope this helps! The Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application and is pleased to offer you a one-year
deferred admission to the Juris Doctor program at Northwestern Law beginning Fall, 2014 along with an annual
and renewable scholarship of $50,000/year.
The Admissions Committee was impressed by many aspects of your candidacy but prefers that you gain an
additional year of work experience prior to matriculation. The Law School is increasing its emphasis on work
experience in the admissions process and presently more than 95% of our students enroll with at least one year of
post-undergraduate full-time work experience. Students who enter with work experience enhance classroom
discussions, generally perform better in classes, and heighten their potential for success after law school. We offer
deferred admission to a select group of applicants for whom we feel work experience will provide great benefit,
both for the applicant and for the School.

do you already have a job? how do they know you'll get one? if you don't work and just dick around will they still accept you? what if you work retail or fast food or something? the whole thing just seems very strange to me. thanks for posting it though.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
