Congrats! For someone who appealed with similar numbers and no initial scholarship that makes me more optimistic about my chances.icedflames wrote:Sweet! they upped my scholarship from 0 to 50k!

I applied for a named scholarship (no interview) so I haven't heard about merit aid, even though I submitted need access in Feb. does anyone else find it odd that NYU is hearing appeals before they even get to some of us for the first time? Maybe I'm just impatient but I feel like they've been telling us "you'll hear in a week" for almost a month now.

Scholarship increase denied.
Just withdrew. I'm going to Columbia next year (unless Stanford or Yale decide to admit me).

On the other side of that, I just received a denial email for my request for reconsideration. I'm bummed as NYU had grown on me considerably, but it certainly makes my decision easier.icedflames wrote:Sweet! they upped my scholarship from 0 to 50k!

I guess this makes sense bc those scholarships are actually pretty close when you take into account columbia's higher tuition. Enjoy CLS!!!Bronck wrote:Scholarship increase denied.

Womp, request denied and still zero scholarship even with a 60k award from Chicago. Looks like I'll probably be withdrawing. Best of luck to everyone else.

Request denied. Doesn't look like NYU is in the cards...

Shoot. After a positive start things have headed in the wrong direction. I count one person with an increase and six denials.FryBreadPower wrote:Request denied. Doesn't look like NYU is in the cards...

Holy bananas. Scholarship increase from 37.5k up to 75k/90k with PI. That's a lot more than I expected, pretty exciting.

They haven't even sent me an initial scholly offer. I turned in my need access late.
Actually maybe they did this so that people would then withdraw/decline and free up more $$ for me. If thats the case then I'm okay with it.

Just send an email to law.finaid@nyu.edu requesting reconsideration of your initial offer and they'll open up an appeal on FAAPS. Just as a warning though it takes about 2 weeks.forthewin wrote:How did you guys send in your negotiation letters? (to what email address/addressed to whom)
Ps- successful scholarship appeal over here!

Just to add to the denials, mine was rejected yesterday. I only had Duke for leverage though. It seems like most of the successful people had Chicago/Columbia offers.

Just got my aid offer at Columbia and it's generous but doesn't beat NYU. Looks like I'll be at NYU next year.

Got my offer upped, but it's still due April 6th! Has anyone successfully negotiated a later deadline?
