Two years ago they started committee reviews 1/29 and reached decisions February 18th. Hopefully it'll just be one more month of waiting at most...

I read that the admit statistics for those in committee review were quite dismal last year.

It would still feel like progress to me. I'm just hoping they're not going to make people wait and ding them without committee review.

They do, and it's typically much later if I remember correctly

It's definitely later in the cycle. There's also an additional optional essay you can submit for merit aid consideration, but I think Berkeley takes into account your admissions application components as well.

It's definitely later in the cycle. There's also an additional optional essay you can submit for merit aid consideration, but I think Berkeley takes into account your admissions application components as well.

Yes, merit aid indeed available later. You can submit the optional scholarship interest essay via the admitted students' website.

Gauging from last year's application forum I think people who are going to the first round of faculty review will probably hear something next week. There will also be some more acceptances and rejections outside of the first review. Then the committee will announce decisions around the 3rd week of February (by the 17th this year). It's not anything certain but at least most of us will have a decision (whether good or bad) within a month.

In the past they have appeared to bring applicants UR in large batches, so all applications received between the last UR date and today probably went under today, whether they sent in their apps 2 weeks ago or 2 hours ago. This is just a hypothesis, but it makes sense given the patterns of UR dates I've seen on this thread in the past...
