I thought that might be what you were referring to. Adding to the confusion was this week was the fact that there was some construction going on there. Traffic is super low this time of year, of course, so it actually wasn't a big deal. Funny that it has an actual name though.kjadkins wrote:Exactly how it sounds. I'd be extraordinarily surprised if you were outright dinged by W&M, barring any red flags (i.e. writing the name of another school on your PS, etc). I'm your #s twin and we're both "Strong Consider" according to LSP. I'm an ORM with above average but not out of the ordinary softs and was accepted with $. Don't lose hope!
By the way, has anyone else signed up for the ASW on March 25-26?
I was just at WM last week. Care to elaborate on "Confusion Corner"?

She doesn't do an excellent job of describing it, but you get the idea.

IN! via status checker - 1/28/11
Just found out this morning when I checked - an awesome "Congratulations" in the status bar and "Congratulations! Admit Packet Mailed" in the Mailings section.
App Received: 1/20/11
App Complete: 1/25/11
Decision: 1/28/11
Good luck to everyone else!
Do you guys know if scholarship info comes with the admit packet? or does it come after?
LSAT: 167
GPA: 3.79

Thanks for the info. I applied to most of my schools pretty late in the cycle (2-3rd week of January) so I'm just catching up on the ins and outs of each school on how they process the apps. I was stunned today when I opened up the status checker to a "Congratulations" I was like "wait...what?? no e-mail??" it was a nice way to start my week thoughbrose wrote:Comes in the admit package. I have this exact question. As both ASU and SMU are lower-ranked, I doubt it. I got the same amount from W&M and W&L, but I think that might work- W&L $ to get more $ from W&M.

I don't think it ever hurts to ask. My advice would be to forgo the prestige of the institution, and instead approach the situation from a practical fiscal point of view.Capitol A wrote:Does anyone think scholarship from SMU or ASU would be worthwile baraining tool with WM? or are they too low ranked to be worh it?
Attending X law school, at a savings of 20,000 per year, for example, is always something to consider. Even if you don't get a matching offer, perhaps they could bring down the cost of attendance slightly, and make you feel more confident about attending.

This is good advice. You can't make any kind of prestige argument here but you may have a (small) leg to stand on if you can show you are committed to go but need the cost to be more comparable.Justathought wrote:I don't think it ever hurts to ask. Idk about SMU. They're ranked lower and the COA (tuition is like 36k or 40 or something ridic) is higher so it only makes sense for them to give you a scholly to attend. It's worth a shot, I guess!

Ok I have a similar question.
I got $15,000 a year from William and Mary OOS and $31,000 a year from W&L. They are not too far apart in terms of ranking. Should I try and negotiate with W&M?
