Re: UCLA? 2011
Anyone receive grant information? I did via email today and was pleasantly surprised.
Also, has anyone requested a travel stipend? I would love to visit the campus, but I currently live across the country and am low on disposable income.

You get grant information in the mail package that UCLA sends you. It took about a week after the call to arrive for me and I'm in DC.ATR wrote:Anyone receive grant information? I did via email today and was pleasantly surprised.

I received the mail package, but I guess I didn't see information regarding the travel stipend. Where is it located?champsound wrote:You get grant information in the mail package that UCLA sends you. Re: UCLA? 2011
There was no travel stipend mentioned in my letter, but I called them and asked. They ended up paying for my flight, but I thinkI heard of somebody else who got an "all expenses paid" offer maybe. Just have to call.ATR wrote:I received the mail package, but I guess I didn't see information regarding the travel stipend. I'm expecting it "early this week" but likely had a delay due to the "mistakes" on my application.... :grumblegrumble:ATR wrote:Anyone receive grant information? I did via email today and was pleasantly surprised.

Glad to hear I have reason to be optimistic though...
Think it's too late to ask about a stipend if I already booked my flight and am going in 2 weeks?

Oh, I misread your question. What I meant was that the scholarship info was in the welcome packet. I don't know anything about the travel stuff.ATR wrote:I received the mail package, but I guess I didn't see information regarding the travel stipend. I guess I'll give their admissions office a call. My spring break is in about four weeks, so that may be a good time to plan a trip to Los Angeles.

I was contacted about my application last week, dealt with their concerns, and was told: "The admission's office will contact you early next week regarding your grant eligibility."sanguar wrote:You guys are getting need-based grant offers already?

Got a very generous need-based grant today. Just to confirm, they are added on IN ADDITION to the merit scholarship, correct?

As I understand it, yes, those are in addition to the merit scholarships. If you don't mind, how long ago did you submit your NeedAccess and Fafsa? I'm a bit curious as to their turn-around time on these.Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Got a very generous need-based grant today. Yes, the turnaround was very fast. I did my NeedAccess on 1/31, and FAFSA two days later. Gosh this really sweetens the deal, I had no idea that law schools gave out grants in addition to scholarships. Sometimes, it really does pay to be poor.

That is fast turnaround! Thanks for the info. I submitted my stuff early last week so I hope I hear back soon too. The need-based grants are going to be key for me too.

Sure np. I got about $13,000 for next year (renewed each year based on continuing need), which added to $60,000 scholarship is not bad for a person w/ my stats and CA residency.

I'm waiting impatiently for my aid info. I'm holding out hope for a merit offer too. Come on UCLA, I'd much prefer LA to St. Louis...sanguar wrote:Wow. That's outstanding!
