For those that have been waitlisted, any status checker changes?

Yes, to "Waiting list offer was granted on February 23, 2010." I haven't checked it since Monday, so I'm not sure if the status checker changes before you receive an email. Although if I remember correctly from EA, the email came first.

WL status checker update and email probably happen at the same time since it is a generic email from the system.

Waitlisted via status checker. No email yet - I'm assuming that will come tomorrow morning.

Ok so I just got 75,000$ at Wash. U. I was not expecting this much money. I have a 167 and 3.9 and am from Texas. UT gave me 5,000. Do you think I will be able to negotiate with UT to get more money with Wash. U offering me so much more and only being a few spots lower in the rankings? Take into account that I am in-state Texas so am already paying the lower tuition.

I would definitly try, but remember you only get one shot. Some people were saying that Texas only likes to match 'peer' schools and takes cost of living into account. If you think you might get money at any other schools I would wait for their offer before asking Texas for more. Good luck.

i doubt it would work since they see the in-state tuition worth about 12-15k a year. take into account the difference in ranking and it's about the same. you might want to wait to see if vanderbilt, usc, or BU throw more money your way. but given your in-state status i doubt they would go up by a significant amount unless you get a full scholarship somewhere close in ranking.

That's the $100,000 question. Nobody seems to know at this point. Are there any Longhorns on TLS that know about this from experience?

Remember that UT has its eye on moving up the rankings. That's the Dean's long-term goal - to be on equal level with Mich, UVA, and Berkeley. The administration views itself as pulling away from UCLA and heading towards UVA status, so that might color their view of what constitutes a peer school.

It isn't a pure rankings game though. Remember that most of UT law graduates stay in or around in Texas. So in addition to the spots above/below them, UT is also concerned with SMU and ummm... not baylor?

I would assume anything UCLA and possibly Vandy up UT would try to match. A Texan's ego is too big to match anything ranked lower than they are lol. I just wonder if they look at the differences in value at the schools, or just tunnel vision on 'which one is cheaper.'
