For anyone who was held today, did you interview (if so, group or alumni)?

I don't think that your application being held is the same as being waitlisted, but maybe I'm wrong. Were other people who had apps that were held given a date that the committee would make a decision by? I'm hoping that this is better than just being on a wait list...

Yes I did interview (alumni). Just from looking through past TLS threads seems most got wait-listed but there are a few that got in so I'm still keeping up hope.

I didn't interview, but I'm currently living abroad so there wasn't much of a chance that I'd get asked to interview.

For those that were held: I think it's different school to school and I'm not sure what the Gtown email says, but if you get held elsewhere they may want you to send in more info and possibly persuade them to admit you.theclash82 wrote:I don't think that your application being held is the same as being waitlisted, but maybe I'm wrong. Being held means they haven't made a decision on you yet, whereas being waitlisted they have made a decision: they had one spot for you and someone else and they liked the other person better. While it may vary from school to school, being held is a better position than being waitlisted, at least for the time being. You do have the opportunity to change their mind because they will review your file again. If you really want to get in, might as well try to campaign for yourself.

I live about 5-6 hours away and didn't get asked to interview. I guess no alumni in my area.theclash82 wrote:I didn't interview, but I'm currently living abroad so there wasn't much of a chance that I'd get asked to interview.

Re: Georgetown C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
There has to be some distinction between the two, otherwise the school would just do all waitlist or all held. If they are making a distinction between the two, it has to have some significance. Purely speculation, but my guess would be Held>Preferred Waitlist>Waitlist. If they are holding your application, you still have the chance to get a direct acceptance, so I would imagine that is preferable to being consigned to either waitlist.theclash82 wrote:I don't think that your application being held is the same as being waitlisted, but maybe I'm wrong. Went complete early november, alumni interview on 11/30, and I was able to log into the ASW today, though I still haven't actually received my acceptance letter in the mail.

In at Georgetown!
I'm pumped. This is my first t-14 acceptance and my hype is through the roof.
Uchicago interview tomorrow, wish me luck. Also, good luck to all of you who are waiting. I interviewed like 11/9 and didn't get an acceptance letter until like 12/15
