What do date changes without an interview mean?

From "What to Expect When You're Expecting Part Two: Class of 2018":

Chicago
Application Received
Application Complete (you get an email for this)
Application Under Review (UR 1) <- indicates first committee review of your file
(OPTIONAL) Application Under Review (UR 1.5) <- I did not receive this step, but I believe some people did
Invited for Interview
Application Under Review (UR 2) <- generally immediately after your interview, indicates that the interview is done
Application Under Review (UR 3) <- indicates second committee review of your file
Application Under Review (UR 4) <- most (all?) people get this in the days leading up to decisions being released
"Invited to Interview" -> Interview scheduled
Acceptances: Email, status checker changes simultaneously
Waitlists: Email, status checker changes simultaneously
Not Acceptances:

I believe that WinterComing said that he would make one in a few days, but I don't know if he's still planning on doing so or not.

FYI, last round of UR4s was on 2/2 and decisions went out late afternoon of 2/4.

Are you certain that you never received an interview invite? It's possible to receive an invitation, not schedule an interview, and continue in the application process, but I don't think that I've heard of anyone skipping the interview invitation step (which that many UR changes would imply, though not guarantee).

I know that my interview invitation almost got lost. I use gmail, and it didn't get sent to any of my main tabs; the only reason I saw it was the notification on my phone, and then digging through my gmail's "All" folder until I found it.

I think that this would merit a phone call to the admissions office.

Fair point, yeah it should show up under mailings. Still an odd situation though, as drblake would be at like UR1.875 Not that we have any idea what even UR1.5 means anyways. Probably just best to sit back and wait it out.

Yeah, there is nothing under my mailings or anything that indicates an interview was requested. Checked my spam in my email too Guess I will be making a phone call tomorrow morning.

UR4 typically means a decision will be made soon. Some people have also gone under UR5

I think they actually get through apps after interviews quite quickly for everyone. They just seem to like to get most people in a particular interview block their decisions in the same wave, so it seems a lot faster for people at the tail end of that period. Just speculation though.

Yeah, I think your speculation might be correct. I went back to see the stats sheet, and did spot some fast turnaround for people interviewed towards the end of the "block". I am getting nervous

I would not put too much stock in when and how your apps are reviewed. They might or might not have had a system before, but they changed admissions staff--quite substantially.

Relax, and I would suggest not checking the status checker and trying to figure things out based on what you see there.

This seems like good advice for not stressing yourself out. On the other hand, it seems Chicago's status checker and the nature of Chicago's decision waves have both been remarkably consistent

I was in the 2/4 decision wave and interviewed a few days before the decisions were rendered. So I went from UR1.5 to UR4 within the course of maybe two days? I was still accepted, so there is no need to worry if your app is being processed quickly. It is just how their wave system works.
