Class size target for this year's class is 150-160, with a little over 100 having already submitted their first deposit. From the undecided students I talked to at law day, there seemed to a strong pattern. Most of them were able to negotiate extra $$ from USC and most of the students choosing between UCLA/USC had no luck negotiating with UCLA. Seems like a lot of students are in the dilemma of having to decide between UCLA/USC by this Monday's 4/21 UCLA deadline, with a higher number of them leaning toward UCLA.
My general belief is that USC has more money to throw around this particular year and UCLA has the LSAT/GPA targets that it wants, so UCLA can be more conservative with its scholarship money.
After talking with an undisclosed adcomm member, I also was told that they expect a lot of movement in the summer with people deciding not to attend USC for their waitlist schools, which should hypothetically free up more scholarship $$ at USC over the summer if that truly is the case. In my situation, I'm leaning toward USC over UCLA because of that higher possibility of negotiating a little more money with a decent T14 offer. But I know that is not a guarantee. All I have to say is, for those of you on the fence and undecided on depositing at USC, have faith in the USC admissions committee.
