nerve cracking. I'd be devastated if I'm waitlisted. Have personal/family reasons to really really want an offer from them.

I predict admit. With your numbers, you're a shoo-in for HYS.wisteria wrote:oh my god, decision made, watch for email.

They probably thought you weren't really interested and based on what you said, it sounds like you're not. But you're on to bigger and better things, so congrats!Omnivalc wrote:Applied, PT, Waitlisted last week with a 172/3.85. Slightly confused about the whole thing

I'm still under review as well, mine went complete 1/2. From what I've seen our wait time isn't atypical. Non PTers seem to take forever

A question for non-PT RD admits, how long after the "decision made; watch for email" status change did the actual email arrive? It's 6pm EST now and there's still no email. Do they send it at night or even the next day?

In!!!! So happy. After the UPenn WL, I didn't want another debacle at a school where my SO is currently seeking a job.wisteria wrote:oh my god, decision made, watch for email.

I think the "Why Duke" I submitted two weeks ago definitely helped keep me off the priority reserve list.

Just got priority track response back, Waitlisted, 3.36 / 176. This feels like a confirmation of my worries that my PS could have been a lot better. This is the first school I've heard back from. Obviously I am worried about the possible range of implications from this.

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll have a lot of great options with that LSAT though. Was this via email?StillIll wrote:Just got priority track response back, Waitlisted, 3.36 / 176. Obviously as a noobie at this type of thing, I'm a little worried about overall prospects. Does TLS have one of those very helpful FAQs for "What to do after being Waitlisted"?StillIll wrote:Yeah I got the e-mail just barely. 10 days exactly since applicationph5354a wrote:Sorry to hear that. Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
I'm not sure about an official FAQ, but I do know that if you're serious about attending duke, Id definitely write a letter of continued interest, detailing why you love duke and how certain you are of attending if admitted. I'd wait a little while before doing that though, because in another month or so you'll have other decisions and will be able to better gauge your feelings towards duke. From what I've learned, the two most important things about getting accepted off a WL are: 1) write an awesome LOCI and 2) update them on anything you've done since applying (updated transcripts, new honors, new jobs/volunteering, etc). With your LSAT, I would rate your chances as fairly high. LSN can give you more info about who got accepted off of Duke's wait list last year, and when that happened.StillIll wrote:Obviously as a noobie at this type of thing, I'm a little worried about overall prospects. In by PT today. 10 calendar days since being complete. Numbers around median but I think my PS was very strong. I also researched the school and wrote a Why Duke. It came to my junk mail folder so make sure you guys check your junk mail too. PM me if I can be of any help.

Really the worst thing is that this is my first decision, and likely the only decision I'll have to think about for the next month (at the least). So its hard not to get pessimistic. I am debating looking into lower tier schools in nice locations that will likely give me tons of $$ to attend, and applying this weekend. Is that considered going off the deep end? Sigh.

I know it's tough, but really, the WL is not a bad place to be for a splitter - if your application was that bad, they would have just rejected you. That's definitely a good idea though and not going off the deep end at all. Maybe you could revisit your application components and get feedback from someone else to make sure you're putting your best foot forward, and then just apply to some more schools. I'm likely to either go to a T14 at full tuition or a T20-25 with $$.. it's really not that bad of an idea. Both can get you to a reasonable place, and your LSAT is gold.StillIll wrote:Really the worst thing is that this is my first decision, and likely the only decision I'll have to think about for the next month (at the least). Duke is pretty hard on splitters. Don't let it make you worry about your application.

I know someone with a 3.3/170 who got into Michigan, so you're in a very good position. A lot of schools will covet having that brilliant 176, so apply broadly. Are there extenuating reasons for that GPA? studying the hard sciences or something perhaps? Working several jobs through college? THings like that really help. Some admissions officers inside Duke must be pulling for them, so give them some reasons, write a killer LOCI and update them on achievements since then. Apply to other T14 schools too (you still have a week -- I think their deadline isn't until Feb 15).

Another question: Is it worth applying for the need part of the scholarships, if you're middle-class or slightly above middle-class? Duke is one of the only schools I applied to that really asks for Need Access, I'm trying to avoid filling it out if it's not going to help.

Duke says do it. They have told me on multiple pieces of correspondence. I wouldn't not do something that a school tells me to do.totoro wrote:Another question: Is it worth applying for the need part of the scholarships, if you're middle-class or slightly above middle-class? Not that I've heard. Last year it seemed like word came later in Feb (around the 20th if I recall correctly) for the first awards.Eichörnchen wrote:Hey everyone, is there still no word on merit money?
