There are too many dates (12/19, 12/21, 12/22, 1/3... perhaps others?) and seemingly far too many permutations (some people went 2nd review on 12/19, others 1st review; some 12/19ers had another update on 12/21, others didn't, etc.) for the cadences to indicate WL, Accept, Ding (like with Cornell).msblaw89 wrote:Also, speculation here... but I am wondering if the dates coincide more so with which adcomm is reading the apps as opposed to ding, WL, admit. Maybe that is why some people who had 12/22 dates also had 1/3 dates because their adcomm was really fast? I dunno just a thought
Also, you (msblaw89) and I have had very different cycles and have very different numbers. It seems that if we do end up with the same fate (whether that be accept, WL, deny), it will be for different reasons.

Just checking in. I went complete today after waiting quite a while to submit, due to procrastinating on the Why Penn essay. Looks like things move pretty slowly in here, so I'm not expecting to hear anything soon.
Good luck and congrats to everyone who has already been accepted!

This is pretty clearly TCR. Even people with really early dates tended to have a mish mash of dates. No one else in this thread had either of my UR dates.msblaw89 wrote:Also, speculation here... but I am wondering if the dates coincide more so with which adcomm is reading the apps as opposed to ding, WL, admit. You might be surprised. Last year Penn sped up a lot after the new year. You have great numbers and I think you might hear pretty soon if they like your Why Penn.caminante wrote:Just checking in. I know for ED, 2 other people ITT had the same 2 dates I did. Out of the 3 of us, one was accepted, one was deferred, and I had a phone interview and was then accepted.Nelson wrote:This is pretty clearly TCR. 10/25 submit, updated once to 12/21. Hopefully will get some good news tomorrow. Hopefully having a second update wasn't like a pre-req to getting in.

With your numbers and acceptances thus far, I don't feel bad about not being updated this week from 12/21 as some of the other people have seen.amc987 wrote:+1. I still think the theory of dates correlating with which adcomm reads our apps is more likely. I'm a 12/21 with 168, 3.8 .... Which isn't awful, but under no circumstances am I a "shoe in". I do have some unique sifts and did write a Why Penn, hopefully that helpedChampion wrote:With your numbers and acceptances thus far, I don't feel bad about not being updated this week from 12/21 as some of the other people have seen.amc987 wrote:+1. Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Personally that's how I think it works too, though it's also possible that which adcomm members read your apps also depends on your #'s (that is, splitters are read by one group, reverse splitters by another, auto admits another, etc.). Just a theory though.msblaw89 wrote:I still think the theory of dates correlating with which adcomm reads our apps is more likely. I'm a 12/21 with 168, 3.8 .... In the same boat, okay stats but no guarantee -- hoping they make calls for 12/21 today because the thought of waiting til next friday is a bit much for me right now (I'll get over it if I have to, thoughmsblaw89 wrote:I still think the theory of dates correlating with which adcomm reads our apps is more likely. Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I am not an auto-admit for Penn either. I think I have a solid chance but nothing beyond that. Plus, Penn seems to be pretty unpredictable with their admissions decisions. Maybe it has something to do with it's relatively small class size. Either way, LSN is littered with Penn waitlists and rejects who have gotten into higher ranked schools. Here's hoping that they're about to bring good news to the 12/21ers and the other TLSers still waiting!
PS How much do you want to bet that one of Penn's admissions officers is currently browsing this thread and laughing his/her ass off at how neurotic we are?

I was 12/19 then 12/21, probably means nothing, but I'm hoping irrationally that it means I get a decision sooner rather than later

Rampant speculation with a pinch of inference. At this point, it seems pretty certain that we'll be waiting till Monday.addy11 wrote:Any particular reason people think acceptances will go out today, or is it just rampant speculation per usual?JustE wrote:Any idea what time those calls usually start?

Yeah, I definitely think that the small class size combined with them loving to YP means that softs are decently important.amc987 wrote:I am not an auto-admit for Penn either.
