Yeah, how does applying for the Tower work? I know it's some kind of lottery. People go for it this early?

In their website it says "Students who complete the application and submit the processing fee will be assigned an apartment in the order that applications are received."

I applied a while ago just because I'm moving from Florida and the thought of searching for an apartment out there was terrifying. Still haven't heard back yet though.

What! I thought there weren't enough rooms for all of us. What happens to those who pay the fee and not get a room? Same thing as those who paid for Need Access and didn't get a grant?

Definitely not enough rooms for all fee paying applicants. Just like need access...it'd be nice if the process was more transparent but then it'd probably be even more frustrating.

Is the Tower that appealing to risk $300? I went there on ASD, and it wasn't anything that awesome.

It is for me just because I'm moving across country and don't really have the resources to go out there apartment hunting. If I lived closer, I definitely wouldn't be considering it.

It depends. Its close proximity to the school is a huge asset for some since it's hard to find a decent apartment in that neighborhood otherwise. The rental market in SF is just very expensive and competitive so for those not from the area, I think the tower is a great option at least initially, if it's available.

That seems pretty messed up to not refund the $300 if there are no more rooms available. How are we supposed to know if there is still going to be space available? It just doesn't make any sense. I think it might only be non-refundable if you decide you don't want to live there if offered a spot or change your mind. There was someone in the Hastings 2012 thread speaking of a "tower deposit refund." He didn't elaborate on it, though.

This cycle is just brutal. I'm pretty sure I won't get in anywhere I'd attend. Guess I'm going next year.

Wow! A wait list from Davis Monday and Hastings today with your numbers is truly SHOCKING. I agree with you though. Better to apply early next year and not waste a 172.

hastings pissed me off with the financial aid...no merit and only a $10K grant with an LSAT and GPA both above the 75th and very good softs...when schools like BU have given me $15K per year in merit aid. most likely will be withdrawing shortly

if they cannot provide you with housing you get your money back. if you change your mind then you are screwed.

Indeed. Lesson for everyone else, February LSAT sucks. It was necessary though, raised it 5 points.

I'm pretty local so I plan to ride the WL pretty late unless some other options come through.

not necessarily true. i went complete in Oct and have not received a decision yet. no updates in grades or a new LSAT... they've just made me wait for 5+ months without a decision of any kind....

Applying early can only help you. It can't possibly hurt you.

It's frustrating to apply very early and receive no decision until April (I applied everywhere in November and I'm still waiting on 3 schools). But rest assured that your chances would've been no better (and likely would've been considerably worse) had you applied late.

I'd hold off until after May 1st, as they won't really need to dig into the waitlist (if at all) until after the deposit deadline.
