Re: William & Mary
I just received my acceptance packet in the mail. Awesome. William & Mary's offered me a very attractive financial package, too, which makes it even better.
Good luck, everyone!

Re: William & Mary
Hey guys, been lurking around here for awhile now... Anyway, for those who care, my cycle went like this. Sent in 1/7, complete, 1/14, Admitted 1/29, scholarship letter ($14,200/yr) 02/01. This is definitely my top choice at this point.
FWIW, OOS 166, 3.5 non-URM
Thanks to those who have been posting info on what their visits were like.
Good luck to all those waiting!

I have been "Decision Pending" for three months. Has anyone else in a similar situation heard anything? Is this actually a soft rejection or an impending waitlist?

Decision Pending since 11/9, 165/3.42. You are in good company. Most Decision Pending people will hear by March.Ginger1492 wrote:I have been "Decision Pending" for three months. Has anyone else in a similar situation heard anything? Is this actually a soft rejection or an impending waitlist?

DP since 11/17.
I'm looking at it as a soft rejection, no hope really.

Not sure why I've been decision pending for 4 months. Pretty much every safety has gotten back to me very quickly. W&M is the only one I'm still waiting on. Seems like a dumb strategy, since I've gotten many of the acceptances I was hoping for, and am starting to wind down my cycle and whittle down my options. March isn't the time to start considering schools of the first time.

DP 12/9 ... WHAT THE HELL???
Poster above, do you really think that all of these DPs are going to get decisions by March?

I've been DP since 12/16. It's a hold, as far as i'm concerned. They cover themselves by telling us most applicants won't hear until March...

Agree 100% W&M is really hurting themselves IMO with this strategy ... I guess they've made offers to the students they really want, but it's not like they're top dogs in their closest big market. I'd be willing to wager they lose a good portion of kids to the other DC/VA schools at which point "holding" everyone else until March doesn't look so bright.dakatz wrote:Not sure why I've been decision pending for 4 months. I've been DP as well for a long time. I think that W&M would be better served placing students on hold or the WL. If I was WL'ed or held, I'd probably plan a visit or keep W&M in mind. But with this vague classification, I've just forgotten about William and Mary. Of course, this could all change if I were accepted.

And according to last year at least, it won't be until late March as well.

You're right - W&M is foolish to not have accepted you immediately. Why would a safety not accept you quickly? Your numbers command respect. They should have realized that you'd get other acceptances, and should therefore have responded quicker and with a larger scholarship to entice you.dakatz wrote:Not sure why I've been decision pending for 4 months. Also DP since 2/16. Oh well, maybe the long wait will make some feel less inclined to attend, but this can only increase the chances for those of us who really want to attend.
Hope all goes well for us!

I've only been DP for 2 weeks, and already get a little angry every time I (pointlessly) check my status. Oh frustration! It's going to be a long wait to April 1st.

Re: William & Mary
I don't want to join the chorus of people worried about Williamsburg being quiet because I'm a small-town boy myself and all of my friends at W&M are happy there. I was just curious, though - I've heard there's great golf in the area and that there are several intramural sports, in the event that the two (three?) bars grow old. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Thanks! And good luck to everyone watching the mail! It's worth it!

I was hoping to come in here and find that my mid-Feb DP date meant I should hear something in the next week or so. Dammit.

I've been pondering recently whether a town with 2 or 3 bars will drive me insane.... Or keep me out of trouble. Maybe this is what I need?JohnHawkins wrote:I don't want to join the chorus of people worried about Williamsburg being quiet because I'm a small-town boy myself and all of my friends at W&M are happy there. Re: William & Mary
Well, according to William and Mary, we who are DP have only a month to wait, as we are supposed to have heard by March 24th.
That's what my BFF, the status checker, tells me.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
