ah that makes sense on your reaction. i apologize if it seemed like i was degrading notre dame. i applied to notre dame as well and used it as an example which was a mistake.jbrowning82 wrote:I'm sort of torn on the whole thing. I'm IR right now and waiting for a decision. At the same time I've got a half tuition scholarship to NDLS (perhaps i doth protest too much). I think I'd take USC over ND if they could come close to matching that scholarship, but man... Could I really root for a team coached by Lane Kiffin? I... I don't know.

Re: USC 2010!
haha its all good man
and i think maybe you misinterpreted me. I'm not saying this hurts USC's reputation. Everyone knows they're sleazy when it comes to NCAA violations. I'm saying it hurts their attractiveness for candidates because USC football is such a big deal and it would suck to be there for three years when they can't even compete on a national stage.
Although in the end I guess it has the same affect as a injured reputation.

At this rate, I wonder when SC is going to get back to all of the January/February completes...seeing that there are still tons of Pre-2010 completes that haven't even been glanced at yet

Re: USC 2010!
This is all wishful thinking on my part, but I believe those of us who are IR 1/8 are splitters/reverse splitters that they like and will use to supplement their stats. They didn't like our numbers enough to admit us outright, but if they see a gap in either LSAT or GPA of the acceptances they are sending out that week, they will add one of the 1/8 crowd to make up for it. They accepted sandycohen about 2 weeks ago and his/her stats are very similar to yours. Those of us they don't need get put on the waitlist.

aetennis17: your 3.98 gpa probably did it. if i had to make a bet, i would make the same bet as mosca.
also the 1/14 IR are also splitters and reverse splitters as well.

App received 1/26, complete 2/9 (had to mail in fee waiver), decision finalized 2/16.
The last 58 pages are a big TL;DR, so I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but how long, generally, from DF to snail mail arrival for folks?

it can take up to 2 weeks. from what other people have said the letters were dated a day or two after DR. then it needs to travel to your location.yeff wrote:App received 1/26, complete 2/9 (had to mail in fee waiver), decision finalized 2/16.

Re: USC 2010!
I finally received an email from the office (4 days later) saying something along the lines of "we have a lot of applications" and "please be patient."
Patient, eh? 9/28 Complete, I think I've been pretty patient thus far. I don't like Lane Kiffin anyways.

Yeah its sorta bullshit that these schools (and i don't just mean USC, there are tons like this) to call their admissions rolling. They're not rolling. Rolling implies first come first serve.

Re: USC 2010!
"rolling"= schools roll through apps in chronological order, automatically picking out apps with shiny #s and decide upon those in a somewhat-chronological order.jbrowning82 wrote:Yeah its sorta bullshit that these schools (and i don't just mean USC, there are tons like this) to call their admissions rolling. Sorry if there is an answer to this in the previous 58 pages, but has anyone attempted or been successful at getting a travel stipend?

Do you happen to remember about how long the fin aid letter (and admissions packet, if separate) lagged behind the acceptance letter?smacroon wrote:Yes, I did not get that email until after I was admitted. Even if by some miracle I am accepted here, not quite sure I would take it... They are leaving a pretty bad taste in my mouth... Complete since 10/14, no review. Really annoying now.

Re: USC 2010!
Let's see got my acceptance letter Jan 28 and the fin aid email (just info not offer) came the same day. My letter took forever to get to me though for some reason so I'd guess the norm is a few days later. The actual packet came almost 2 weeks after acceptance. I am in NYC. Hope that helps!Vegas_Rebel wrote:Do you happen to remember about how long the fin aid letter (and admissions packet, if separate) lagged behind the acceptance letter?smacroon wrote:Yes, I did not get that email until after I was admitted.
