Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
held too, mentioned business school as well,
"In the interim, if you wish to submit a letter of continued interest, kindly do so by March
27, 2015. However, if during this time you decide that you no longer wish to be considered for
admission to Columbia Law School, kindly notify.."
well, how "nice"

Lol just received an "amended" email from Columbia. Still held, but without the business school mention.

Held.
Complete December 9th
177/4.0
Not K-JD
Don't think there are any huge problems with my app, because I've gotten in elsewhere quickly.

Same. So what does held mean exactly? Is it just waitlisted? Cause you could be placed on reserve after the hold period so is that waitlisted? So confused

The amended email is almost cruel. My first thought was that they had accidentally sent the hold email to me and wanted to, as recompense, admit me immediately.

Held. GPA<25th and median LSAT. Surprised since most people being held have much better numbers.

I think it's just a light form of YP. maybe the past Held threads will have insight, but it's a way for them to weed out high scoring applicants who have already been accepted to HYS. makes sense on their end, is unfortunate for us in the short term though

Held means you're still in limbo and they're just delaying their decision. You can still get accepted directly, waitlisted (reserve at Columbia) or rejected directly at this point.lawschoolprospect123 wrote:Same. So what does held mean exactly? Is it just waitlisted? Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
+1 to this. It seems like everyone who just got held has one number above median, if not both. Them specifically providing a due date for a LOCI seems to indicate this even more.qwertyTLS wrote:I think it's just a light form of YP. maybe the past Held threads will have insight, but it's a way for them to weed out high scoring applicants who have already been accepted to HYS. makes sense on their end, is unfortunate for us in the short term though
I'm just wondering why Columbia has started YPing - to my knowledge they're not known for doing it in previous cycles. Silver lining: maybe if you got held they think you have a good shot at HYS?

Anyone know from last year when people who are held typically get a decision? I know they said before April 24 in the email, but that's after some schools' first deposit deadlines. Are we really looking at early April or later?

Held. GPA>75th and LSAT>Median.
Ugh. I can't imagine what I'd write in the LOCI that I didn't write in my Why Columbia?

Also placed on hold.
Is it safe to assume that this eliminates any chance at receiving a substantial merit scholarship from them?
