Still a bit confused as to the difference between UR1 and UR2? Mine just says under review.

Same with me, I read as "file under review"...with a current status date of 1/5. My application went complete on 12/3.

How did those who got in (non PT) hear...email? Snail mail?

UR2 refers to a second date change after you go under review. The status stays the same but the date underneath changes. IIRC then Duke sends all answers by email. Although status checker will change to decision letter sent, a little before the email.

UR2 is just a date change, and I believe that the message at the top of the page shortens as well. For example, my UR1 date was 1/05 too, and then it changed 10 2/09 which meant I was UR2.

Everyone hears the same way: email. I think there might be a follow up package afterwards but I've only seen that mentioned once so I don't know if that's something they're actually doing this year.

Okay- I have tried catching up on this long thread, but I can't really tell.....have people been accepted who are regular decision applicants? (As in, not priority track or ED?)

I've been UR since 12/15, and I didn't know if waiting so long to hear back was normal or not for Duke.

Thanks for any insight!

Yes, regular decision applicants have been accepted but it appears to take quite a bit longer than PT. There is a Duke non-PT thread on here, too, btw.

I was admitted through RD about a week or two ago after submitting in mid-November. Hope that helps and good luck !

For those who applied priority track, why did you chose to do so? I mean clearly it's fantastic to get a decision earlier, but does it affect your chances in any way? If it doesn't then why would anyone not apply under the priority track? I applied under regular decision because I thought priority track was just a fancy way to say early decision, now I understand it's not binding. Duke is definitely a reach school for me, and I am pretty sure I won't get admitted either way, but I'm just curious about what you all think about priority v. regular.

Um... because they sent me an e-mail and said they'll give me a decision in 10 days. You can't just opt in, you have to be invited. Though some people have had success soliciting for it.

PT is invite only, and my guess would be you do indeed have a higher chance at being admitted as you have been essentially pre-screened.

Those of us in RD hate PT. You have to be invited, and few have had success in soliciting an invitation. We have debated why PT endlessly ITT and we can't identify a real reason, as people of all numbers and backgrounds have received them. So to answer your question: PT is awesome and all of on RD are jealous of those who received invitations.

I think there is some indication that your chances are better with PT... but I'm not sure.

Additionally, it's great to have a decision within 10 days, as you said. I think for people (like me) who will be re-locating and are currently employed/have families/etc., it's really nice to get as much information as you can early on. Duke PT is one way of getting a piece of the puzzle much more quickly.

Pretty much just the part that I bolded. If you could choose between hearing back in ten days and hearing back in four months, which would you choose? Getting to start the financial aid process earlier than most can't hurt, either.

This wasn't really a question, but for posterity, I did receive a follow up mailing. It was a folder with information and it also had a lanyard and one other small item (forgetting at the moment) enclosed.

Still nothing in the mail (2/6 sent)

Either Duke is really saving postage money or my post office needs an inefficiency award. (It's definitely the second one)

Just submitted the scholarship application and I have a couple of questions. First, do I need to fill out Need Access ASAP? I still have some info I'm gathering and want it to be as accurate as possible. Second, are you supposed to do your FAFSA before the Need Access? Also, for any of you that have gone through the interview already, what was your experience like?

Thanks for any info in advance!!!

They also sent another package in January (admitted in Oct.) with additional brochures on clinics, career services, Duke in DC, etc.

ETA it came around the time scholarship stuff started happening so that was a minor letdown when it was just info

I got something in the mail from them today and got all excited, but it was just a letter from Dean Levi and a viewbook :( Guys, I'm waiting on a scholarship decision. Don't toy with my heart like that.

They (unintentionally) troll hard between the random mailings and the weekly email newsletter

You can schedule/do the interview before completing Need Access, but my understanding is that they won't offer you anything until you complete it. Therefore, the sooner the better! I did Need Access and FAFSA on the same weekend; doesn't matter which you do first. I found it easiest to do them together, since there is an overlap in the information required and I already had it on hand.

My interview isn't until later this month, so I can't help you on the last one. Good luck!

How long did it take for NeedAccess to process your payment? It's approaching two days for me which seems a bit ridiculous.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
