Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
In today via snail mail!
I was scared because it's a normal, holiday card sized envelope, as opposed to a big brochure-sized one.
At the end of my small acceptance letter was a handwritten note from Dean Cornblatt mentioning some specifics in my personal statement and saying I did a good job showing why Georgetown would be a great fit for me. A really nice touch by them.
BTW, I did the optional essay (the topic was: biggest regret) and did not hear anything from them about interviews.

Cool, congrats. Mind sharing when the letter was dated and when you applied? Also, why is it bad to do the optional essay?ub3r wrote:In today via snail mail!

Dated for January 26th. And I mean that my optional essay topic was "what is something you regret?", lol. Sorry for the confusion.ticklemesilly wrote:Cool, congrats. This. Just said it was complete, not even with a date (was around 1/20 I think). I applied 1/7.Gray wrote:GULC's status checker doesn't update. Just when you go complete.monkeyKT wrote: What was your last status update on the checker?

In today via snail mail as well! The holiday card sized letter was definitely scary, as a previous poster mentioned.
Applied January 5th, went to the group interview on the 25th, and the letter was dated the 27th. Dean Cornblatt had mentioned at the interview though that those who were invited to the group interview (at the actual school) would hear back within 4 weeks.
My letter also had a personal note from him saying he appreciated my attending the interview, for sending him a follow up email (though he had sent me one first), and saying my interests aligned with Gtown's strengths. Nothing too specific, but appreciated nonetheless!
How do I negotiate with Gtown in terms of scholarship? I received money from GW but have no idea where or how to begin

Congrats! As far as negotiating, I would wait until March because Spivey says that Ad Comms really detest it when students start too early. I think you can just email them and explain that you would really like to attend for x reasons but you've received x amount at GW and could they consider increasing your scholarship amount. I know it seems awkward but it's a normal part of the admissions process. There's a lot of helpful advice in the scholarship negotiations threads on here.dlrkgml wrote:In today via snail mail as well! Does GTown usually give an initial offer first? Or is this how you initiate?hillz wrote:Congrats! I'm probably really over thinking this, but should I go grab some sort of special folder/folio-type thing to tote my resume to the alum interview?

i'm wondering the same thing. Should we wait until Gtown starts handing out schollys before attempting to negotiate? I've only received $ from one school so far, so I don't think I have enough ammo yet
edit- since the yellow application won't even be available until mid-february I think it's still way too early

At the gym and just got an email about an interview. Went conplete 1/15/15. Pretty pumped, but can't tell if it's from the email or the squats I'm doing.

I applied at the end of December and didn't get an interview invite until late January. Definitely don't worry about it yet.monkeyKT wrote:I applied around mid January. Should I be expecting a ding if I haven't heard anything about an interview yet? Or anything for that matter?

I too just got an email about interviewing with an alum. I went complete way back on 10/12 and received a couple of offers to do a group interview, but beyond that, never heard anything, so I'm taking this as a good sign maybe?

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Have we established if the interview is a good or bad sign? Confused as to why some people get offered interviews while others with similar stats don't before getting accepted. I don't think it's YP because a lot of people who did the optional responses still get interview requests....anyone with obviously YP numbers want to attest to whether or not they were interviewed?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
