For those of you who were waitlisted today, did you all have interviews first?

I'd honestly wait a little bit, which might also make the LOCI stronger since you'd have more time to add substantive details to your already-submitted "Why UVA?"lawschool22 wrote:Yeah I'm going to write a LOCI. I'm just not sure if I should get it in soon, or wait a little bit.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. I may even try to visit, as I'll be in DC in a month or two. I might just swing by and then I'll have that to talk about, which should be genuinely convincing.Nonconsecutive wrote:I'd honestly wait a little bit, which might also make the LOCI stronger since you'd have more time to add substantive details to your already-submitted "Why UVA?"lawschool22 wrote:Yeah I'm going to write a LOCI. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
You may want to think of something to add to your application as well. A promotion, new grades, papers written, major projects at work, something else for them to look at when they bring it back to the committee to say "this applicant just got a promotion, completed this interesting project for his/her company, completed research on, yada yada yada." The substantive qualifications side is often just important in a LOCI as demonstrating continued interest in the school. Doesn't have to be anything amazing, just something substantive. Just my opinion.lawschool22 wrote:Yeah, this is what I was thinking. I may even try to visit, as I'll be in DC in a month or two. Thanks! I'm not sure anything substantive will happen for me at work in the next few months. Maybe performance reviews? I always get high ratings, although I doubt that's substantive enough to let them know about lol.RCO2012 wrote:You may want to think of something to add to your application as well. Lol make something happen. Another helpful hint if you do visit: they allow you to sit in first year classes after your tour. Sit in on one your interested in and talk to the professor after class. That will more than likely give you a decent amount to write about.

So I just got my promotion and am going to write them a LOCI this weekend. I also need to send them a why UVa. Should I just do that all in the body of the email, or give them a brief overview and attach the why UVA and an updated resume?RCO2012 wrote:You may want to think of something to add to your application as well. Anyone have UVA interview advice? I've been reading the guide to law school interviews and it's mostly been about harvard and chicago.

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Always attach. Don't put the documents in the body of the email. They need an actual file .doc/.pdf to update your file with. So, attach both docs and use the body of the email to express your general continued interest and that you hope to hear from them soon. Congrats on the promotion.BmoreOrLess wrote:So I just got my promotion and am going to write them a LOCI this weekend. I also need to send them a why UVa. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Just had a phone interview with Jason Dugas. It was much more laid back that I was expecting. We spoke briefly about my work experience and then chatted about my hometown and skiing for ten minutes or so. He answered some questions that I had and then told me the committee would likely be making decisions within the week.
I was way over prepared for this one.
