Ok. Originally we speculated that they were going to interview a lot more of the WL. So far they haven't. That isn't to say there won't be another wave of JS1's off the WL.

If we were to guess they won't do another round of jS1's then it's possible most of the people interviewed thus far will be js2'd

No, because that was JR and this is JS. Besides that difference, there's the long stretch of skype interviews changing the timeline. And since evidence from this cycle shows that they use at least one day to finalize decisions after interviews, I don't think it's today. I do think there's a good chance it will be this week, though.

Yeah, I mean we already discussed this a few pages back. About 66% of the spreadsheet has had a JS1. A conservative estimate would be that 50% of the entire WL got a JS1.

We estimated at least 800 people on the WL, so 400 have had a JS1 and they admit maybe 200 people off the WL.

That's 50% at best.

Unless you're hoping that no pre-WL JS1s get in. But from the 10-11 cycle thread, I'm seeing quite a few people get in after a JR2b.

It used to be a different dean in 10-11. JS is from the past two cycles. So it was JR. Not sure what his name is.

And it's because TLS and the internet abbreviates as much as possible.

We don't. But considering how different this cycle is, even data on previous acceptance rates of post-WL JS1s wouldn't hold much predictive power.

We do know that at least some pre-WL JS1s got in during previous cycles, so you have to expect some movement there. Even if a higher percentage of post-WL's got in than pre-WL's, I don't think the rate would approach 90%.

As everyone else here, I've seriously begun to freak out a bit. I applied late (March 3), received a wait list offer on April 15th and responded on April 19th. I have not been invited for a JS1. Should I basically kiss my chances of getting accepted goodbye? Are serious wait list candidates usually called by now? Anyone know the dates of JS1 invites since April 19? I'd appreciate responses. Thanks!

JS1 invites are sent via e-mail.

Check the original post on page 1 and look at the spreadsheet. Last JS1 wave was April 25.

I believe the consensus is that your chances of getting a JS1 are low but not zero.

Initially I thought I had a strong shot since I applied after the deadline and they still WLed me. I did check the spreadsheet earlier but wondered if there were any new rounds of interviews. Do you think because I responded Apr 19 and the rounds were made the 25th could be a reason I had no JS1, or do strong candidates get invited right away for an interview?

Well, I would consider it a fairly good sign that you applied so late and still got a WL offer.

If there have been any new JS1 offers, none of those have been reported on TLS, but that's unlikely.

Your late response to the deadline could be a factor. Maybe if you responded immediately you would have gotten the April 25 offer, I have no idea. Either way it is irrelevant.

Ah, that's too bad. Not that I thought my interview went badly, but as it was directed around my resume, I felt like I was just going "blahblahblah science, blahblahblah research" when I definitely have other stuff going on, but felt I can off as very 1-dimensional and didn't really have any opportunity to talk about anything else (she didn't even give me one of those "anything else you wnt to add?" type questions at the end). ah well, just gotta wait this out now :/
