Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
sooo, has anyone done the video yet and know how it works? i am wondering (1) if you get multiple attempts, and (2) if they give you instructions on how to present/transition into your answers... do you think anyone will submit anything more creative than just sitting there and speaking, or do you think USC just wants it to look similar to if they were interviewing you (so just sitting somewhere appropriate, nice business attire, etc...)

Application went complete 1/23, went into 1st committee review yesterday 3/30. How long does it usually take to get to a decision once it's gone into review??

It literally depends on the person... Some people's application goes through each stage quickly, some will stay on their 1st committee review for a month or more.

talked to a student in the admissions office during my visit and she said the video makes little to no difference. just another piece of information for them to consider when (if) they ever take another look at your application. i'm not going to risk it...i figure you can only hurt yourself unless you have some great answers to their questions

If the video makes little to no difference content wise, then it can't hurt you... isn't it still a good idea to submit one to show interest? I think the WL email said they strongly recommend it?bingbang1025 wrote:talked to a student in the admissions office during my visit and she said the video makes little to no difference. just another piece of information for them to consider when (if) they ever take another look at your application. i'm not going to risk it...i figure you can only hurt yourself unless you have some great answers to their questions

Also got $0 blah. I'm also negotiating for more at the moment as well, let's hope for the best! Do you think you'll still attend USC if the negotiating doesn't work?ttnguyen wrote:@ Lady DM I am envious. I am also Viet, similar numbers...but alas nothing.

I don't think I have any way of rationalizing the spending of 70k a year when I can go to other similar schools and spend about a third of that after scholarships. Hopefully my negotiation works too.

When I visited, Mary Bingham asked me to email her my negotiation if I wasn't happy with the results.tjddk wrote:To whom are you guys sending negotiation emails?topper10s wrote:I don't think I have any way of rationalizing the spending of 70k a year when I can go to other similar schools and spend about a third of that after scholarships. In terms of negotiating, the letter in my scholly packet said that the offer was FINAL. Are people here trying to negotiate on top of that offer? Does that sentence in the packet exist only to dissuade people from trying?
Or is everyone trying to get something out of nothing? (Which, I understand, I quite a different thing.)

I'm in "in final review" now~ I just got my grades (GPA went up), so should I still send it in? Via LSAC still?

So I already withdrew, but I got a letter in the mail today telling me that I received no aid of any sort! That is really crazy, considering my mom makes less than 40k/year and that every other school gave me upwards of $15k at least for financial. I hope everyone who is attending/still in the game gets the appropriate amount of aid, I was really disappointed (even though it shouldn't matter)

I would email or call right away and then have transcripts sent to LSAC as well as directly to USC.aliceydu wrote:I'm in "in final review" now~ I just got my grades (GPA went up), so should I still send it in? Via LSAC still?

Has anyone received confirmation for their scholarship confirmation email? If so, how long did it take for USC to get back to you?

I hear you! I figured I'm probably an auto-ding, but am a little surprised I haven't received the dreaded letter yet!
