Sorry to hear about the new waitlists
If any admitted students are attending the 3/25 Preview day, I made a thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 8&t=147219

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
my email stating that a decision was rendered to be delivered by snail mail began with " thank you for your interest in bu..." Anytime a sentence begins with thank you for your interest, the news cant be good.

I'm just confused. They haven't responded to my email yet about merit aid (probably a not good sign, although they do, you know, have to sift through thousands of apps and call gemini and pink and jj and lots of other TLSer). One person on LSN has a 175/3.9 (as well as numerous others with dazzling stats) that did not list any merit aid from BU which I find hard to believe.
So is it better to try negotiating early even though they might come out with more aid? But if you wait you run the risk of money drying up?
AGGGH! Couldn't you have just thrown a litttttle money my way BU? This would have been a done deal!
And some people on LSN are really lazy/uninterested in updating their profiles.
Anyway, it's a wednesday so I sincerely doubt BU is calling anyone today.![]()
I'm starting to lose my sanity.
So, I did the same thing as ya'll and shot off an email this morning to Leonard. I got a polite email back that basically was a 'no', encouraging me to apply for need-based aid (excerpt below):
"Congratulations again on your admission to BU Law. We certainly know how important scholarship aid for many of our admitted students as they make their final decisions. As you are waiting for us to review your file for merit based scholarship aid, I would encourage you to apply for need based scholarship aid as well. We do have funding available beyond merit based aid and would like to consider you for all the types of scholarship aid that we offer."
instructions followed.

Just curious-- does anyone know what BU's deadline for giving decisions is? This obviously excludes people on the waitlist who may not hear until August for the final decision.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
sorry to clarify I meant for BU to give applicants a decision not for applicants to give BU a decision. Do they reserve the right to wait up until like April 14th to let us know?rman1201 wrote:First Deposit April 15, 2011lawgrl21 wrote:Just curious-- does anyone know what BU's deadline for giving decisions is? Re: BU 2011 Applicants
They never provided a date in any of the initial emails regarding the app cycle. Judging from LSN the last of the acceptances usually come around mid-march, with some rejections/WL offers coming through April.lawgrl21 wrote:sorry to clarify I meant for BU to give applicants a decision not for applicants to give BU a decision. Wait, what exactly did you ask about in the email, if you were getting any merit based aid? When I called and asked in general when one would hear about merit based aid, they were so wishy washy like maybe with your acceptance, maybe not, maybe never.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
I got my acceptance + packet last week w/o any info on merit aid, so in my email I said that basically it would be an important factor in my decision. I also said though I understood merit aid was rolling, I would appreciate consideration.knotoftoads wrote:vbgal22 wrote:Gemini wrote:stlisforlovers wrote:

That was basically it! (and you got my exact reply, so infer what you will I guess. I took it as a polite 'no' or 'wait' but let me know if you read it differently!!! Thanks!

The email I got in response was very similar. I took it as a polite no.

Don't assume it's a no. Find other BU accepted people on LSN with your numbers and talk to the ones with schollies for info.stlisforlovers wrote:The email I got in response was very similar. I took it as a polite no.![]()
Good luck! Let's hope there are some phone calls going out tomorrow, one of which would be to me, hopefully.

Hm, that's a good idea. I shall try that.
I know this is got to be little to no consolation, but I honestly think that there will be an acceptance coming your way very soon.
