To clarify, I was told the next wave of scholarships would be AFTER April 5th. So perhaps sometime this week.justme13 wrote:I'm still waiting on a scholarship offer. The admissions office said they would send notifications on April 5th.... Has anybody gotten an email yet? Because I didn't... I fear this means I will not be receiving a scholarship.

Any thoughts on when the last wave of acceptances will come out? Perhaps before the first seat deposit is due on the 16th? Still no word, complete late January. Called 2 weeks ago and still hadn't gone under review. Sigh.

UNC's hardly dinged anyone yet. How many of you (like me) who haven't heard anything after months thinks that this is just going to be a ding? I'm now resigned to thinking that they have a whole mess of dings and they're just going to do it all at once - and I'll be part of that.

I'm convinced they are going to put me on a waitlist, drag it out until August, and then reject me.

Same. What have they been saying May 1st is when people should expect to have decisions by? I expect a bloodbath to ensue shortly.MarkRenton wrote:UNC's hardly dinged anyone yet. I was originally going by LSN and figured any decisions after April 1 were wl/dings but the final acceptance wave never came so who knows...

That sounds *exactly* like what UNC would do.ihopeihope wrote:I'm convinced they are going to put me on a waitlist, drag it out until August, and then reject me.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I agree that most of the accepts are out. Just out of curiosity, why are some expecting 1 last wave of acceptances? I may be wrong but LSN shows a total of 3 waves last year and we've already had that many this year (Auto-admits in early Jan, 1 in February, and the last one in Mid-March).

Saw one last wave last year around the end of March, that and desperately trying to grasp on to any thread of hope... Fail.Type_S_Maniac wrote:I agree that most of the accepts are out. Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I've already been admitted but I think those of you still waiting should still be hopeful. Although there were already 3 waves just like last year, they also started admitting earlier and I think it's safe to assume there were more applications this year just like every other law school. I think there's gonna be another group of acceptances. I'd be shocked if there wasn't.
.......but then again from some of the stuff said on this thread UNC admissions office has been "threatening" applicants with caller ID and hanging up on people so I guess its a crap shoot.
keeping my fingers crossed for those still waiting

I can't help but wonder how many applications they actually have received. I was quite surprised when they extended their deadline by two weeks.

I don't see how everyone left waiting is going to get rejected... if that was the case, why is it taking so long? That's why I'm still hopeful

I called Thursday and they hadn't even started reviewing mine yet, so it isn't like they're sitting on a whole bunch of applications with decisions.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I was rejected last year. I have no way of knowing if my rejection came with the "bulk" of other rejections (it most likely did, but who knows). It came almost immediately before May 1st. I remember this, because I was in the same position many of you are now in (applied 5 months ago, haven't heard jack, etc.) and was literally counting down the days until May 1st. The rejection came like, maybe a day or two before that and I'm in-state. Not that this means you all will get rejected! I really think that due to the increase in apps there will be another round of acceptances, so be hopeful!

I wonder the same thing but the date the application became available was postponed a week or two. Perhaps extending the deadline evened it out. Virginia extended its ED deadline by a few months which was shocking because in the waitlist email I received it was pretty clear that they had received a "record number of applications".

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
They've told a ton of people that they haven't even reviewed it yet. Don't really buy that. I think they have a ding pile and anyone in this ding pile, they tell them their file is yet to be reviewed. After all, they really can't say "We made a decision on your application last month but we're waiting until the end of April to mail it to you". Maybe they haven't looked at your app yet, just saying though.Bedsole wrote:I called Thursday and they hadn't even started reviewing mine yet, so it isn't like they're sitting on a whole bunch of applications with decisions.

My feeling is that they are waiting until after the April 16th seat deposit deadline to see what their yield looks like.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
My theory (just to throw it in the pot) is that they are running their admissions similar to William & Mary, but are being less transparent about it.
Rolling admissions for the smart kids, and now the rest of us chumps will get dinged/waitlisted near May 1.
I have completely ruled out another wave of acceptances. It stinks but it has helped me return to my sanity. I now tell people where I will be going to school in the fall, barring the acceptance off the wait-list at one of my schools which I have been lobbying hard. It actually feels better than I thought it would.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Except that they've definitely had waves of WLs. I'm out-of-state and I received the 10pm WL email last week with the in-state wait list wave.
I don't mean to be the harbinger of doom, but they've wait listed a bunch of in-staters with really good numbers--I have trouble believing there will be anything but another wave of WLs.
