Re: USC 2010!
I am 168 3.7 and I am getting to the point where I just don't care anymore. Still complete and have been for months. I feel like if I was going to make the socal move, I would only do it for UCLA which at the moment is looking like a wl/ding

Just a guess, of course, but I suspect you're golden.goblue1646 wrote:so...no letter yet after DF 2/12. but I did just get an email telling me to apply to this one scholarship from USC...do you think that means I'm in? It addressed me as "Dear Prospective Student." :/
Your stats are a notch higher than mine in both categories, and you have the same DF date as many acceptances. I can't imagine they'd ask you to apply for a scholly if they didn't want you at the school.

Thanks for your thoughts! That's what I was thinking--I was hoping I wasn't making a huge illogical leap (as I am prone to, which should be just greeaat for studying law!)Vegas_Rebel wrote:Just a guess, of course, but I suspect you're golden.goblue1646 wrote:so...no letter yet after DF 2/12. but I did just get an email telling me to apply to this one scholarship from USC...do you think that means I'm in? It's funny, this whole NCAA scandal is seriously affecting how I look at USC. If it comes down to USC or a peer school and they get the death penalty then I'm definitely going to consider going elsewhere. I can't imagine going to USC with no big football.

First it was 12/17, then updated to 1/19. So tomorrow is my 1 month anniversary of the update. =/nyyankees wrote:does your in review date keep updating? PS: I guess yesterday was the 2 month for 12/17, lol.

USC being naughty in several ways with their sports program: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3459 ... ons-on-uscfinalaspects wrote:elaborate please! what was the scandal about?jbrowning82 wrote:It's funny, this whole NCAA scandal is seriously affecting how I look at USC. Re: USC 2010!
i don't think its a coincidence that most of the top law schools have either a good football or basketball team. notre dame imo... is ranked higher by reputation then it actually should be and i attribute that to sports. so i understand where you're coming from. even people who don't know much about sports or watch it, can feel the affects of reputation and how much people talk about it.Vegas_Rebel wrote:USC being naughty in several ways with their sports program: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3459 ... ons-on-uscfinalaspects wrote:elaborate please! what was the scandal about?jbrowning82 wrote:It's funny, this whole NCAA scandal is seriously affecting how I look at USC. Re: USC 2010!
Yeah I think you're way off on that. Notre Dame, for example, is probably ranked lower than it should be in terms of post graduation employment.
The reason lots of highly ranked schools have big programs is because those big programs bring in huge amounts of revenue for the schools who use that money to build/reinforce their great academic programs.

in terms of its lsat and gpa it is higher ranked than it should be. and common people will know notre dame but not some other much more higher ranked school due to its reputation.jbrowning82 wrote:Yeah I think you're way off on that. but i do agree that it builds/reinforces their already great academic program. maybe notre dame was a bad example but i believe it works on other schools.

Re: USC 2010!
I dont know how you can say that a school should be ranked lower because its incoming students have slightly lower GPAs and LSATs. The rankings should indicate where graduates get hired and the quality of the education. But whatever.

How so? Its medians seem pretty much in line with those of similarly-ranked schools.finalaspects wrote:in terms of its lsat and gpa it is higher ranked than it should be.jbrowning82 wrote:Yeah I think you're way off on that. Re: USC 2010!
depends on what kind of ranking we're talking about. i was talking about US news' ranking which is mostly based on LSAT/GPA. and its the most popular/widely used ranking system out there despite how much some people hate it. but to answer your question its now how im saying it, but how US news is.jbrowning82 wrote:I dont know how you can say that a school should be ranked lower because its incoming students have slightly lower GPAs and LSATs. i agree that rankings should be employment prospects and quality of the education though. which is what i looked for when i applied which included notre dame.

Re: USC 2010!
Nonsense that might even lead to the NCAA death penalty. This was the main ESPN investigative report in 2008: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3389049. Something to read while we're waiting to go IR...jbrowning82 wrote:yeah i mean its been all over ESPN for a while. Reggie Bush and McKnight and then a bunch of nonsense with the hoops team.

Re: USC 2010!
I'm sort of torn on the whole thing. I'm IR right now and waiting for a decision. At the same time I've got a half tuition scholarship to NDLS (perhaps i doth protest too much). I think I'd take USC over ND if they could come close to matching that scholarship, but man... Could I really root for a team coached by Lane Kiffin? I... I don't know.

Re: USC 2010!
yea i think used a bad example of using notre dame. although i believe a better reputation will also attract stronger candidates as well. which corresponds with jbrowning82 less wanting to attend USC based on its reputation.galahad85 wrote: How so?
