How many times did peoples "complete" dates update before they got a decision? I was complete 12/24 and then 02/05 and haven't heard anything.

FWIW, I only had my original complete date which never changed.

Can "in" people please post their numbers if they are not in your profile? That would be very helpful.

NWern gets around, cause they just sent me a letter that they want to hold me tight until April. Quite a Valentine's day promise, but not the one I was hoping for.

It might be the wine that I'm drinking, but I thought the valentine was really cute. I'm also still just really excited to be accepted, though.

On hold via email. Any LOCI tips or advice would be seriously appreciated. So disappointed.

Re: Northwestern 2010
For those on hold, I would follow-up with an LOCI about once every 3 weeks. If I were writing, I would focus on the collegial environment and pick a clinic or to where your background and skills seemingly relate very well. Finally, don't be afraid to tell them that you will absolutely attend if admitted (if of course this is true).

Last year, Northwestern wished me happy birthday. It was quite cute.

If you have a birthday in the spring / early summer, you'll probably get a happy birthday e-mail too.

Thank you for the advice. I feel like I said this kind of thing so extensively in my "Why Northwestern" essay, but I guess not.chadwick218 wrote:For those on hold, I would follow-up with an LOCI about once every 3 weeks. To the person who asked about December apps, I applied shortly before Christmas and got my hold email Friday.
Is there any conventional wisdom as to why a hold, rather than a WL? Feel free to point me to another thread . . .

Re: Northwestern 2010
Holds and WLs are two entirely different animals. Northwestern will waitlist, they just don't start doing it until late April or so. I think as far as Northwestern is concerned, a hold is just their way of "waiting and seeing"... an attempt to gauge various applicants interest in the school and how the rest of the applicant pool develops over time. The waitlist, on the other hand, is designed to keep a list of people to fill in spot over the summer when they feel like their class has already been constructed well.roundabout wrote:Thank you for the advice. Re: Northwestern 2010
For another school, I included in my LOCI that in addition to the fact that I would absolutely attend if admitted, I would immediately withdraw all applications from other schools. Unfortunately, I was admitted after our first day of orienation and sadly just couldn't bring myself to attend as I already had a roommate line up (I still feel a little dirty inside though despite not recieving notification until it was really too late).roundabout wrote:Thank you for the advice. yes. I hope it's scholarship notification, but I have a sinking feeling they are just sending a viewbook and info about admitted students day.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
