First poster here. Applied ED, also got a hold notice from NYU today.

I submitted 11/12, went complete 12/1, 170/3.8 from non-HYP Ivy.

Anybody know how "holds" fare, generally speaking or at NYU in particular?

Do you mind sharing when the envelope was postmarked and when the letter was dated?
Please say the 9th..

Hey--

I hope this doesn't post twice (already tried to submit, but do not see the post)
Anyway, the envelope was postmarked the 4th--the letter I'm not sure about, my mom received it and I don't live with her. However, admissions told me it was sent out the 3rd. I contacted NYU a week and a half ago to change my contact information because I moved, and then they unexpectedly informed me that my decision had already been mailed to my old address---they did not divulge any info about the decision. Needless to say, I have been awaiting this letter nervously.

I am also RD, not ED. And my numbers are super borderline, 3.85/169--so this was by no means a sure bet.

Good luck guys!!!!!

Only that they mailed it out late last week (spoke to them on the phone on Thursday)

Only school I've heard from is GULC (in).. Nothing from anyone else. I mean GULC is nice, but it was the only school I applied to I wasn't really all that excited about. Fuck Cornell, I wish they had given me a decision, I was actually pretty interested in them...

Ah, a fellow Cornell deferree (deferrant?). Here's hoping you get some good news from NYU.

Ya, Cornell was disappointing. Thanks a bunch about NYU... If just one person posts some good news I'll instantly have some hope, but right now it is difficult not to expect some bad news.

Are you still waiting on Columbia?

Yeah, they're still stringing me along. Any news would be nice at this point. I'm highly anticipating a deferral, the numbers of a lot of the ED applicants this year have been crazy.

I understand what you mean about any news being nice, the wait is miserable. Also, about the numbers, there is a part of me that thinks that applying this year may turn out to be really bad luck. Oh well, it is what it is I guess. Best of luck with Columbia! Hopefully even if we strike out with ED we both get in somewhere we can be equally excited as NYU/Columbia (looking at you penn).

Guess I'll be looking for my WL/hold/rejection in the mail. At least they aren't waiting until April this cycle.
