Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Got an email notifying me my financial aid summary had been updated after not paying a deposit on Friday and, as expected, it was updated to remove my scholarship award. Not going to lie; that stings a little. But hopefully that frees up some money for one of you still waiting on an acceptance. A little sad I'm not going to be spending any more time on the SC campus!

@Rion, Dan, I was hoping for some good news for you. So sorry.
@spencer, man I really hate to see you leave. So sad. It sucks how a school can essentially "buy" an applicant with more scholarship. Would have loved to have you here.
---
Some schools will email people on their WL about if how many they anticipate in drawing from the WL. Has anyone on USC's WL gotten such an email? Thanks, and good luck to all.

Thanks! It's been kind of bummer to realize just how much it's about numbers in the end. Being tied to a 20-year-old GPA, regardless of my LSAT or professional experience, is frustrating to say the least. That said, USC was pretty generous to me compared to others with my GPA, but UCI gave me the same $ and that $30k tuition difference is just too hard to ignore.LawsRUs wrote:@spencer, man I really hate to see you leave. I think you may see some movement after the Commitment Overlap Report comes out on the 15th.HalfStudent wrote:well since the USC 2nd deposit is due at the of the month I doubt we will see much waitlist activity until june.

Allegedly they sent out some message to admitted students about this being their best class ever but I call BS on that. How the hell can they know who will matriculate or not this early especially since the t-14 haven't started admitting people of their waitlist..

Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Yeah, that was in one of the pre-deposit-deadline emails, but I'm pretty sure that was just generic marketing speak. I don't think they were literally telling us that, statistically, 2018 is their best class ever.HalfStudent wrote:Allegedly they sent out some message to admitted students about this being their best class ever but I call BS on that. I think they genuinely believe they will beat last year's numbers with a class of about 165-175 which would give them the best class ever statistically. The reason I find it unlikely is because of the massive decline of app with high LSAT scores.

Might explain why my WL last year was an outright reject this yearHalfStudent wrote:I think they genuinely believe they will beat last year's numbers with a class of about 165-175 which would give them the best class ever statistically. Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Looking at LSN, I got the sense that they were aiming for the same medians as last year. LSN suggests a 166.
GPA may go up, albeit minimally (+0.0X), if they decide to reduce their class size. (My guess)
The wording was really vague:

The wording was really vague:
Fbear, fwiw several admitted students have been getting into other schools after USC's first deposit deadline. I'm guessing there would be a handful of people who will withdraw tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to comply with the seat deposit overlap policy. One alum I met was admitted 3 days before school started, but he was all-or-nothing on USC. I'm not sure if you are planning on holding out that long. They know you are anxiously waiting, hang in there:the class is shaping up to be the best yet, highly qualified and extremely diverse.
[Filling out the Enrollment Form] will allow us to extend offers to some of the many anxious individuals on the waiting list.

According to LSN, someone was admitted to USC from the waitlist so it is starting.

I'm in the FB page and USC is losing quite a few people to other schools predominantly UCLA and Georgetown. Waitlist activity should get going soon if it hasn't already.

My email was to waitlisted applicants stating they may be in a position to offer spots after the July 1 deposit deadline, and they asked if I'm still in a position to attend. Not sure if feeler or generic email to all WL applicants.

I guess that's to be expected given that last day to deposit is tomorrow.

Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
I think they will accept those who tell them they will go if accepted. It's yield protection. So if you want to be admitted to be off the waitlist just tell them you will attend.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
