For those who have interviewed for a Darrow Scholarship and have heard back, do we hear either way? Or does radio silence post the two week window mean you are no longer being considered?

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
I believe that you should hear back either way, though it may not be within the two week window. Someone also posted that they did get it yesterday but it was several days past the two week window. So basically, don't count yourself out just because you haven't heard anything after the two weeks.titusandronicus wrote:For those who have interviewed for a Darrow Scholarship and have heard back, do we hear either way? I actually just came to report back on this. I had a Darrow interview and did not hear back in the two week time line. Three weeks after my interview I got an email for a 120k dean's scholarship. Just FYI, I think even if you don't get the Darrow you will get something.

I'm so grateful for this. I don't think my stats are high enough for a full ride anywhere in the T14, so I think it's a fabulous offer. Really happy!

I applied in mid-NOVEMBER. I received that email saying certain applicants get boned because of some time frame thing. If Michigan actually wanted me in their class, would they have already extended an offer of admission?

Did you write a Why Michigan essay? It might be some YP.miraclewhip wrote:I applied in mid-NOVEMBER. I received that email saying certain applicants get boned because of some time frame thing. If Michigan actually wanted me in their class, would they have already extended an offer of admission?

I did not write the Why Michigan, so YP could be going on for sure.imKMart wrote:Did you write a Why Michigan essay? It might be some YP.miraclewhip wrote:I applied in mid-NOVEMBER. I think people think YP is happening far more often than it actually occurs. There are plenty of people with better stats that were accepted.

Maybe those people wrote why Michigan essays?quadsbaby wrote:I think people think YP is happening far more often than it actually occurs. There are plenty of people with better stats that were accepted.
All we do is guesswork based on woefully incomplete data, but the fact that some people with better stats were accepted does not by itself mean that YP is not happening. No one ever says that YP means there is a GPA/LSAT ceiling above which Michigan (or Penn or apparently NU this year) won't consider your application.

I've been lurking here for awhile. I submitted at the end of December and was just admitted yesterday.
The real reason I wanted to chime in: Dean Zearfoss seems like she is legitimately one of the nicest people on the planet. Of course, the only information I have to base this on is the small notes she has left on the form letters I have received. I haven't actually met or spoken with her.

Her blog is also awesome.mgschiet wrote:I've been lurking here for awhile. I submitted at the end of December and was just admitted yesterday.

And she probably has a large role in the wit and good humor that pervades the UM admissions process.
I actually get a little sad that I might not be attending Michigan. In a way, I feel like I'm letting Dean Z down.

Agree 100%. She is making it hard to consider other schools, because if she is representative of what people at Michigan are like, there is no place I'd rather be. And I met her when she came to my school for a law fair and she was genuinely that kind and has been super helpful when I've contacted her since then.mgschiet wrote:I've been lurking here for awhile. Michigan wins the recruiting process, hands down.

Checking in.... Michigan is easily my top choice but it definitely is a reach for me.... I am hoping that my Why Michigan and that I said I would start either summer/fall will give me somewhat of a chance.

Just to confirm:
If you get a Dean's Scholarship, then you are out of the running for the Darrow, correct? I got an offer of $40,000 per year, but I've been getting more from Michigan's peer schools, so I was hoping that I could still get a Darrow.

Just wanted to follow up for other interviewees who might be stressing. I didn't hear until almost 3 weeks after my interview and was offered the full Darrow. Good luck to everyone and feel free to PM for anything.titusandronicus wrote:For those who have interviewed for a Darrow Scholarship and have heard back, do we hear either way?
