this is where a twitter account comes in handy. eh, eh, UVA?
Admissons does have a Twitter, but its updates are as frequent as their status checker.

it totally did, and it will also cause the unbelievably hilarious HOLY FUCK WTF reaction once the admissions office realizes there were multiple glaring typos in an email sent out to literally hundreds of already-frustrated prospective students.

i agree, though, that the gesture was kind and appropriate. i certainly appreciated it.

My first thought when I read it was that it was definitely caused by this thread. I can't think of any other reason for such a sloppy e-mail. To be honest I'm a little offended by it.

The gesture was really nice, but I'm with the folks complaining about the typos cause I'm the saltiest law school applicant of all time.

Would be nice if Northwestern could do something similar...

So this means TLS has shown up in Yale, Harvard, Penn, and UVA communications this cycle. I love it.

I had a typo in the beginning of my PS so I assumed that's why I was in the #radiosilencecrew...

UVA, I'll forgive your typo if you forgive mine. Kthanks!

I remember Michigan sent me an email with information for in-state students earlier in the cycle (basically said that they reserve seats for Michigan residents) and then quickly followed it up with "Michigan Made an Oopsie!" as I am, in fact, not an in-state applicant. My favorite line in that second email was that their mess up gave all applicants one free pass on typos, haha.

Michigan too. It's time they dry their tears from that OSU national championship and decide my fate.
They already did

Did anyone get an oddly personal "please don't give up on us" email? I think it was sent from a student at the school who's from where I'm from..? Did anyone else get this? I'm surprised, and a little impressed, that it wasn't just a generic email from the admissions office. My numbers are pretty far below their mediums, but I applied as a "reach" school. Thought I'd get an immediate rejection.

Cordel is the first name of the new Dean of Admissions. To spell it out in excruiating detail, the email was from the Dean of Admissions. Named Cordel

MAYBE UVA was displeased with the number of pages ITT so they wanted to add a few more by sending a mass email? Gotta stay competitive.

Best part of this exchange is that gotsnork2 thinks he's living in 1997.

Edit: from that student Cordel's email
In 1997, I exuberantly submitted my applications to law schools in November. I popped them in the mail the day right before Thanksgiving. I was a splitter (and a first generation law school applicant), so I had no idea what to expect from the admissions process. Next came weeks of EXCRUIATING waiting. I remember sitting on a Blacksburg Transit bus during March of my senior year, and a friend asked me what I was doing the next year. I told her I really wanted to go to UVA Law School, but after months of waiting I figured my chances basically were nil.

Notre Dame has 87 pages?! Must be a very TLS-active group of applicants!

I'd like to think the number of pages correlates with the number of unemployed applicants

Woops sorry guys! Didn't mean to trip any alarms. Read the email while driving and jumped on here while pumping gas to see what people were saying. Got home, pulled out the laptop, and I see I misread it. My apologizes to you! It wasn't personal--just read it that way in the moment. An apologetic my bad!

In case no one has pointed it out, the email did not come from Cordel Faulk's official UVA admissions email:

http://www.law.virginia.edu/lawweb/facu ... 21004ae29c

Not sure if clf8g@Virginia.edu is just an alternate email of his or someone decided they wanted to embarrass the admissions department. For Virginia's sake, I hope it's the latter. That letter was an insult to anyone who put even a little effort into his personal statement.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
