Got the phone call yesterday! Submitted 11/1, complete 11/14, didn't know early decision was non-binding. No word or status checker movement until 3/15.

Beside mg7 has anyone had any luck negotiating using GW money? Also how long after admission should it take for scholly info to come out? Not sure if I should count Spring Break as a week...

Absolute acceptance (and $250 at Iowa)sublime12089 wrote:For Iowa especially, is that absolute acceptance, or just that you lose $250 if you deposit and don't go after that?michaelm55 wrote:My Iowa full ride and Indiana $120,000 scholarships require acceptance by April 1 or they pull the plug. During the one for UT alumni it was business casual, so you should be safe with that. I don't know about the Thursday events though.

no one has replied to the person on Facebook asking the same question either
edit: Monica Ingram, from Facebook: "I had a similar inquiry from one of your fellow admits. "Well, for Thursday it depends on what you're doing, e.g. Segway Tour. I would wear jeans on Thursday. We suggest business casual for Friday. I would include in that description khakis, button down shirts, skirts or slacks, whatever makes you comfortable, but not a suit. I encourage ladies to bring a sweater because the law school can feel cold. Also, wear comfortable shoes or sandals, if the weather permits. Your day will have lots of sitting, some walking and standing. You all are more fashionable than I so take my suggestions and run with it. Also, bring your appetite!"

Congrats!!! I think I remember you saying you are OOS? If that's the case, it makes UT an expensive endeavor (assuming no financial assistance). You would likely be looking at close to $200,000 of debt. Do you have an interest in the public sector? Because if not, you would likely need to land BigLaw to pay that down. Take a look at some of the various debt calculator on this site and play around with some numbers. Find your bottom line and determine what you would need to make in order to pay it off and how long it would take.michaelm55 wrote:Just got the call. I feel great! But is it wise at sticker??? Thanks for the feedback. I will look at the debt calculators. Also, is it possible to achieve in state status?

I'm not sure (I'm OOS as well), but I received my scholarship info separately after I got my admission. So maybe yours is still on the way?michaelm55 wrote:Thanks for the feedback. I will look at the debt calculators. Also, is it possible to achieve in state status?

Congratulations!!! Not to be a creeper, but I was watching to see what happened for your application because we have similar-ish numbers and I've also been held since November with no word. Unfortunately it's either UT or postpone law school for me, since I'll be moving to Austin for personal reasons in August. I definitely wish I was you right now! haha. But really, congrats, if anything the long wait is over!michaelm55 wrote:Just got the call. I feel great! But is it wise at sticker??? What do you all think?

Hey guys, I hope you're all really excited for ASD this weekend! We will definitely be having a party at my place on Friday night. I live literally across the street from the law school with 5 current UT Law students in a very large house where we host many parties, and we will provide plenty of drinks for everyone. They are also still looking for a incoming 1L to be a roommate in the house in the fall, and the house has a million perks including the perfect location and TONS of old outlines and books. So I'm inviting everyone to come enjoy some drinks with your future classmates Friday night after ASD!
People will be at the house drinking and watching March Madness on our amazing setup (two 60" TVs in the living room) pretty much all day, and I'll be there after the last ASD event around 4pm. Any of you guys are totally free to come over to hang out and watch basketball from that point on, but I assume the party won't really get going until 8pm or so.
Our place is just on the other side of the road at 706 E. Dean Keeton.
Please don't hesitate to show up! Everyone in the house is super friendly and enthusiastic about UT Law and we'd love to have you guys! If nothing else, free booze!

TX91, I have been told that many will start hearing a few weeks after UT's deposit deadline. Which is...4/1, no?TEXAS91 wrote:When do most people start to hear about the waitlist?

Hi guys. Quick question. Does your status checker change if you get a decision?

Just got a email from Mr. Riley about the Non-traditional student breakfast while I am most definitely not a URM. Guess it's a different classification criteria?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
