Ok, what up with Cornell starting complete emails with: "Dear [x], We are delighted to inform you that your application to Cornell Law School...is complete." Don't they know what that makes you think when your phone only displays the first part?

Sorry if someone already called this out earlier, but this thread has a lot of pages.

Yeah someone mentioned it probably a couple dozen pages ago.

Still just as maddening now, though. I can't recall that e-mail, but I'm sure I found it equally unamusing.

Michigan writes something similar in their complete email. Vanderbilt might take the cake as far as teases go, though -- sends you a big white envelope from their admissions office (a few weeks after you apply) which turns out to be just an info packet on the school.

True, although Vanderbilt had the decency to complete my application within 5 weeks of receiving it, so I hadn't entered the phase of expecting legit responses yet. But when you get that email after you have already started receiving acceptances from other schools, it's even more deceiving.

Is there any consensus / pattern re: how many status updates you get at Cornell before a decision?

From what I have heard there are three updates, but I am not positive about that.

Yup, 12/5 just turned into 12/19. I'm already expecting a rejection here but it's going to hurt so much more to actually get it.

Yeah, they seem to take quite a while. I submitted 11/19 and my file wasn't complete until 12/10.

It's crazy to think they take an entire month to verify materials. I've gone through an entire cycle elsewhere and am still waiting to go complete at Cornell.

Hey everyone! Does anyone know how we find out about merit offers from Cornell? I got an offer for $30k/yr at U of M today, which will be tough to beat, but have been excited about Cornell as well. I'd like to know before I bother arranging time off work and spending the cash to visit.

That's disheartening. I've been wondering this since all my other apps went complete within 24 hours of being received. Good to know its their normal policy, although it's going to drive me crazy.

It took 3 1/2 weeks for them to verify all of mine, but they finally finished it on Friday. I submitted my app 11/27 as well, so hopefully yours is coming complete soon!

Comparing those numbers with the ones I have here

It looks like LSN's median is about 1-2 points higher than the class' median yes? In the extreme case of Berkeley's it is 4 points higher though.
