I'm going to withdraw too. Sad because I really wanted the chance to practice in S. Florida, but its so expensive and I have options that genuinely place better. Very tough to say goodbye to Miami.

Temple. Its about 12k cheaper per year. Also, it seems to place really well in Philly, and if I'm somehow toward the top of the class, I could even make a case for NY with my ties.
I went for a visit on Wednesday, and was very impressed.
Miami offered the highest quality of life, but I was worried about the market and the cost of attendance. I tried to negotiate money, but like everyone else, to no avail.

Since I am on four (and maybe more to come) waitlists, I am putting my deposit down at the U today. If all else fails, they have some of the connections I want toward sports law and three years in Miami can't be all that bad. Go Canes!

Accepted off the Waitlist today.
Honestly, I think my wife is more excited about it than I am. I am happy I got in, and I'm giving it serious consideration, but the money...*sigh*

How were you notified? I'm hoping to get off the waitlist too but haven't heard anything yet. Congratulations!

I received an email stating "CHECK YOUR myUM ACCOUNT FOR UPDATES" and as soon as I logged in I was slapped across my face with their letter of congrats. I'm not really sure what the next step is from here(besides the seat deposit) and do not know if I should be expecting anything in the mail. I'm kinda busy with work right now as well so I'll worry about all things UM at the beginning of next week.
For what it is worth, I made absolutely zero contact with UM after I was waitlisted. I was slightly surprised with the decision because I thought my application was strong enough to be accepted(sadly, I wont share my numbers). I visited UM before, but that was over a year ago and I highly doubt they would have any record of that. I emailed them shortly after I applied(and did not receive a response) and that is about the limit of any communication I have had with admissions(unless my family in Miami have been secretly harassing them...).

An admissions packet comes in the mail sometime after you get the online admissions letter.dadamafia wrote:Thanks.sknight323 wrote:How were you notified? I'm hoping to get off the waitlist too but haven't heard anything yet. Congratulations!![]()

I also was pretty surprised that I got waitlisted. My numbers were above both medians and I'm a legacy, had good LOR's, etc..some good softs that should have pushed me over. Oh well, heres to hoping..

Re: U. Miami Applicants c/o 2014
I am a long time board reader and first time poster. I went to UM for Undergrad and Grad school and actually have worked within their Athletic Department for a few years. It will be sad to leave my work behind to pursue my JD at Miami however it is a challenge I have long waited for.
I was curious to know if anybody has heard back yet regarding the James Weldon Johnson/Robert H. Waters Summer Institute?
I know they just started "reviewing" applications earlier this week but I was just curious. Thanks in advance and I am looking forward to meeting those of you who will be joining me in the Fall.

Just tried the link, which indicated I was WL'ed the last time. Right now it gave me the "Your admissions information is not available at this time. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 305-284-2527 for additional information. Thank you."
Is that good? Lol.
PLEASE TAKE ME OFF THE WL!

I clicked that link and got the " please call the admissions office" message. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see this being good news since its only been a few days since the deposit was due and prob filled the class and now getting rid of a lot of waitlist applicants. I guess we shall see.

Just an update for those that had a change on the link, mine still lists me as an alternate.
Guess we'll have to wait and see...again...what's going on!
Good luck!

It's very very early in the WL game right now. They won't actually know what their class is until after the second deposit and even after that people will still drop due to getting off other waitlists etc. Dont give up hope so soon!RAB wrote:I clicked that link and got the " please call the admissions office" message. Mine too. Last time this happened, my hold turned into a waitlist. Just hoping to hear something soon so I can figure out my life.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
