okay Fordham pissed me off today. I spent all this time on a LOCI/scholarship negotiation letter (I got $28k/yr from UMN...#22, which is 12 spots above Fordham) and I got this lame ass response today:

Dear Gotti,
It seems that you have some very good choices for law school! Unfortunately, although your GPA is very high, your LSAT score is not high enough for us to award you a merit scholarship.
We hope you choose Fordham Law, it is a great place to study law. However, we wish you well where ever you decide to study.

I'm pissed, man! Fordham is #34 and act like an Ivy. My GPA is extremely high and I'm only 2 LSAT pts below median. My app was great. I hate everything

I think you should just withdraw if you are that pissed. It would calm you down and open a seat in the class for those of us on the waitlist who would not be pissed off to get in without a scholarship.

Only 2 points below median? If I had 2 points higher LSAT score my range would go from lower t14/t17 to CCN. Get real.

It doesn't matter if you are 1/100th of a point below median. They had a certain amount to distribute in scholarships and they will give to those who they believe are best qualified. You didn't make it. They have no obligation to match the effort wou put in the letter you wrote. Believe me, I say this with love.

Gotti - I don't know what to say about the "shortness" aspect of it but I will say this: Fordham's Admissions Office was always 150% honest with me (even when it hurt!) and in the end, I really appreciated that.
Please know, they really have NO MONEY. Schools like MN are wealthy beyond belief, compared to us. This is a problem, but it is what it is. I hope to someday earn enough money to endow a scholarship at my beloved school but for now? It's just really tough for them to compete.
I love this school more, every day. The students, the faculty - it's just an incredible place to learn. Hope you can come visit - we'll talk more, in person!

Yeah would it ease your pain if they gave you a wall of text instead of a short paragraph? What did you expect? For them to send you flowers and a 12 page letter trying to console you? Get over it. It's not like they replied with a one word response. You could have sent them a freaking 20 page research paper on why you should get scholarship money. Their 1 paragraph or 2-3 sentence response is more than adequate and it's dumb to consider that rude.

Sticker at Fordham is a pretty dumb move financially. There's about a 70-80% chance that you won't get biglaw then you're stuck with 200k debt and a 60-80k salary. That just spells doom (financially at least).

If you have your parents paying for law school or you have some biglaw job waiting for you once you graduate or you are a URM, I guess it's a different story.

I'm glad I'm not going there. It seems like you're going to have a lot of jerks in your class gotti. Hopefully they confine them all to the same miserable section.
