Re: Cardozo 2010
So my status just changed to "decision rendered and sent" from what it seems like I was rejected- from what I've been hearing the waitlisting is done via email and the acceptances via phone call first
Good luck to everyone else!

hey really don't worry about it, i've read on LSN that some people got that message and were accepted WL or held for another round. It's not completely out of the picture that they'd hold you (i don't know your numbers). Law schools accept people up until the 1st day of school. Chin up!

You know, I'd consider doing this, but I doubt it would make much difference at this point. Plus, I think I'd rather just go to school full time.Et Tu Brute352 wrote:i did it last week. and from what i can tel 159 to 160 is their median for PT right now

So I know what you're saying. I thought the same thing. I looked into the program. Either way in your 1L you take 30 credits. In Cardozo's PT program, they do it 3 semesters of 10 (summer, fall, spring). In their FT program its 2 semester of 15 (Fall, Spring). Unlike most programs, Cardozo's is also in the Day and ranks their PT among their FT students. At the end of 1L, you matriculate into the regular class. It's sort of a decelerated intro to Law School and for people like me who didn't exactly try too hard in UG (i.e. low gpa). It's a great way i think to get acclimated to the rigors of law school.b.j. wrote:You know, I'd consider doing this, but I doubt it would make much difference at this point. That doesn't sound so bad, except the part about starting in the summer. I don't think that would work for me.Et Tu Brute352 wrote:So I know what you're saying. I thought the same thing. If you don't mind me asking, how low was your GPA, and why was it so low?

Re: Cardozo 2010
slightly below 3.0. Well there are a number of reasons as to why my gpa was low I was involved, i partied, i always kept an internship or position outside of school to supplement my education, etc etc. But the fact of the matter is I did not focus enough on my school work relative to my extracurriculars, and it's hurting me now.

If I get off the Cardozo Hold, can I expect any $$ from them at all? 163/3.81
Thanks!

Cardozo is my #1 school right now. I have a 3.56 GPA and a 154 LSAT URM. What are my chances here? Just got a rejection from Fordham so my spirits aren't too high.

They throw a lot of money out there but 163 looks like it's pretty median for their standards, your GPA could get you some $$ though.tommytahoe wrote:If I get off the Cardozo Hold, can I expect any $$ from them at all? 163/3.81

Re: Cardozo 2010
Well make a list of what you have going for you against their standards and see if you think you'll get in. I'm not trying to sound like a butthead but considering your LSAT is 12pts below fordham's median and about 10pts below Cardozo's I'm going to guess that you're relying on the URM status to get you into one of these schools (as opposed to you developing the cure for cancer, which is what you'd probably have to have with that LSAT). While I wish you all of the best and luck in your cycle, I gotta say now that they're filling the last few spots in their classes, these schools really get to pick the top applicants from the pool that's left. Now again, I'm not sure how much URM status counts for, if I was a URM and I broke 160 I'd probably apply to Harvard so it could just get you in.cityglamorous wrote:Cardozo is my #1 school right now. Yeah, if I'd squeezed out a 165, I could be looking at full ride money!Et Tu Brute352 wrote:They throw a lot of money out there but 163 looks like it's pretty median for their standards, your GPA could get you some $$ though.tommytahoe wrote:If I get off the Cardozo Hold, can I expect any $$ from them at all? 163/3.81

Well yeah, I know my LSAT score is low. I'm not necessarily the best standardized test taker. I get super nervous. Best of luck to you again, I hope I'm wrong too. Cardozo told me over the phone they do a Holisitc review of ones application and i hope so I have a low gpa and average LSAT (2.87 and 162) so again i suppose i hope i'm wrong too.cityglamorous wrote:Well yeah, I know my LSAT score is low. I am a tutor at Penn State for 2 subjects: writing and philosophy of logic. I have also been a TA for various subjects for the past two years. Obviously, on the down side, my LSAT score is significantly low. Anyways, thanks for your advice. And I can't lie, I hope you're wrong!
But seriously, thanks.

Withdrew from the hold list. I'll be going to Illinois in the fall. Good luck to those still on hold and on the WL!

Word on the street is that the may program is full...and I am still "under review for it" any thoughts?

Hey everyone, this is my first post on TLS, but I have been viewing the forums for a while now. Hopefully this information will help you guys that are really anxious (I know I was). I got an acceptance call for the Fall 2010 program today, and I was complete on 3/2. My numbers are 161/3.91, and some pretty strong softs. I am definitely going to Cardozo, hope this was helpful to you all, good luck!

Re: Cardozo 2010
I'm still waiting to hear something. I've been under review for almost two months now (I needed to submit a Dean's Letter but didn't do it until very late) and haven't heard anything from the office. I called about a month ago and was told to write an e-mail. Once I did that, I was told to see if the status checker was updated. It hasn't been.hchan wrote:Hey everyone, this is my first post on TLS, but I have been viewing the forums for a while now. I sent an e-mail this morning to see what's up. I get that the process takes time, but we're going on about two months after the initial deposit is due. I'm legitimately confused about what to think. Either they are debating whether to accept me, or they just haven't gotten around to reviewing me yet, which seems a little odd. Hopefully, I will receive a more helpful response than I got the last time.

Got a call from Cardozo yesterday afternoon. It was sort of a mini interview type deal. Nearly scared me half to death. I don't know whether to take the call as a good thing or a bad thing. Wish me luck! & good luck to everyone out there still waiting!

Re: Cardozo 2010
Just got the call. Accepted to Cardozo for the fall 2010. Very exciting. For anyone still waiting, I have a 3.56 GPA and a low 154 LSAT. Don't lose hope! Good things come to those who wait!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
