Re: Illinois 2010!
There won't be any movement on our wait list until at least April 19th. On that date I will send an email to everyone currently on the list with a report on where the class stands. I appreciate your patience, I know the waiting sucks.

Dean Pless:
Do you have any news on the final figures of next years tuition?
When can we expect this info?
Thanks.

My estimate hasn't changed since I sent out the email. I anticipate those being the final numbers.Luis Gomez wrote:Dean Pless:

I read on this thread that Dean Pless usually starts this page and admitted students have to request to join and get verified. Yours seems to be an open group.bananasinpajamas wrote:Here is a group link for the Illinois Class of 2013!

Re: Illinois 2010!
Well, with seat deposit deadlines looming...Illinois is still my #1 and I'm on the waitlist.
I'd shed blood to get in. I will be so happy when there's movement for us waitlisters...andddd the waiting continues.
I was going to send a LOCI, but I honestly poured my heart and soul into my initial application and have accepted that whatever happens, will happen.

Are you still expecting a lot of movement? Also, do LOCIs make much difference in who gets off of the list, or does it just depend on the profile that you need?Pless wrote:There won't be any movement on our wait list until at least April 19th. Re: Illinois 2010!
I am expecting a good deal of movement, both here at Illinois and at other schools. LOCI's do matter, in showing that you are still interested in Illinois. I will still fill based on the need, but of those that fit the need I will tend to go to people that have shown an interest (email, LOCI, visit) first.toppercentile wrote:Are you still expecting a lot of movement? Re: Illinois 2010!
I just came across this information that I think a lot of us will find useful. Most of us can agree that rankings or the "prestige" of the school matters to a degree. But also, basing a decision on THIS YEAR's rankings is not a good idea, since rankings change a lot from year to year. For me in particular, I was even more interested on how each school performed in the last 20-10 years, since those are the graduates that are already working and are established professionals and are the people will see your degree and go: oh I know X person graduated from this school, and he was SOO GOOD/ BAD. In light of that, here is a ranking that goes as far as 1987.

If you think about it, what is more important in terms of "ranking:" that Illinois was #29 in 2006, when these graduates are JUST entering the market, or that they were ranked #20, in 1995, when those graduates are Partners At Law firms and established professionals that will probably be the ones doing the actual hiring.

So far I've been really impressed by Illinois. It's represented itself as a class act institution the entire time, and I think that it's in no small measure to Dean Pless. I'm very pleased.
