Hoping for an interview invite. Seems pretty late in the cycle. At least there's some movement.

Yay! I was hoping I might see another late bloomer. Went UR1 3/9. Also hoping for an interview as well. Is it a good sign we went UR pretty quickly or are things just moving quickly because the end is near and we're facing the final curtain... Hmm.Yaaaas2013 wrote:Submitted 1/13

Re: Chicago Law School c/o 2018 Applicants
Of all the law schools I applied to, I essentially gave up on checking UChicago's TLS thread and status checker (I expected UChicago to be the school with the highest chance to reject /WL me). I idly checked it today, expecting no movement, only to find out that I had an interview request yesterday, and that interview request email apparently went to my spam. D:

If there was a UR2 I didn't notice.

They tweeted yesterday that more interview invites were going out, seems like they're still rockin' the cycle.Yaaaas2013 wrote:Submitted 1/13

Did anyone do an interview? Some insight would be helpful.

I meant this: I was invited to do one . I scheduled it for this week. Is it something I should worry about vis-à-vis prepping for questions? I've done some research on the school so I can be prepared, but I'd like some tips. I am understandably anxious about not fumbling.Mack.Hambleton wrote:read the thread. everyone who was admitted did an interviewPragmatic Gun wrote:Did anyone do an interview? There are compilations of the questions most everyone has gotten in this thread and the interview thread. No one's had any big surprises or epic fails; it's pretty standard.Pragmatic Gun wrote:I meant this: I was invited to do one . I scheduled it for this week. The information you want (including a full list of questions applicants have been asked on Skype) is all throughout this thread. You should start by reading the thread. Good luck

Re: Chicago Law School c/o 2018 Applicants
I think the Chicago interview was my toughest of the cycle. The basic questions were just what I expected (why law, why chicago, etc..), but then my interviewer started asking follow-up questions that forced me to clarify and defend my answers to the general questions. At one point I began answering a question one way before thinking better of it and going in a slightly different direction; my interviewer kinda (justifiably) nailed me on it and asked me to clarify which answer I was offering.Pragmatic Gun wrote:Did anyone do an interview? All-in-all it's not a scary interview, but I recommend taking an extra second to think after each question (harder than it sounds if you're a little nervous) as opposed to rushing into answers that could appear glib to the interviewer if you have to revise them.
You'll do great!

as an alternative mine was super laid back and friendly, so I'm guessing it depends on who the interviewer isradio1nowhere wrote:I think the Chicago interview was my toughest of the cycle. Yeah, mine was quite conversational as well. Prepare by reading through the questions offered in this thread and the interview thread and you should be fine; good luck!Mack.Hambleton wrote:as an alternative mine was super laid back and friendly, so I'm guessing it depends on who the interviewer isradio1nowhere wrote:I think the Chicago interview was my toughest of the cycle. Re: Chicago Law School c/o 2018 Applicants
I second this. The interview definitely seems to depend on who the interviewer is. Mine was a lot like radio1nowhere's was. His advice is spot on, too. The good thing for me was that somewhere earlier in this thread, someone had posted a comprehensive list of questions. Mine didn't deviate much from that list at all.radio1nowhere wrote:I think the Chicago interview was my toughest of the cycle. For those that don't want to hunt through the threads
Why law?
Why law now?
Why Chicago?
What am I doing between now and law school (I was a December graduate from UG)?
Resume related questions (questions about specific items or bullet-points on your rezzy).
Have you ever had a time when you were out of your element or comfort zone?
What is your greatest accomplishment?
If you could go back in time and redo one thing in your life, what would it be?
Discuss a memorable class or moment in a class.
Why did you choose your undergrad?
What is your preferred work style?
What do you do in your free time?
How would your professors describe you?
How would your peers describe you?
How would your coworkers describe you?
Do you have any questions for me?
"Who most influenced your decision to go to law school?"
Tell me about a challenge you faced?
Tell me about your current job.
Any points you want me to especially emphasize with the admissions committee?
"What is on your bucket list?"
If you could have a conversation with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Complete 1/23 UR1 3/4...praying for that interview invite

Typically, how many of these questions are they asking in a single interview? It's safe to assume they won't ask all 22 questions...right?

I think I got about six or seven questions from the list that you posted, plus a couple follow-ups to my answers. The interview was twenty minutes long, including a few minutes for me to ask questions at the end.BillClinton Jr wrote:Typically, how many of these questions are they asking in a single interview? About the same here. The only one that wasn't asked at every interview was "if you could talk to anyone in history, who would it be." Besides that, it was the typical why chicago/why law/why your background questions.radio1nowhere wrote:I think I got about six or seven questions from the list that you posted, plus a couple follow-ups to my answers.
