Yeah, I figured as much.
You know, I had a theory a while back that as medians dropped, splitters with 171+ LSATs would actually become a bit less valuable to schools in the mid-T14, since now they could consider all these many more people with 169's and above median GPA's. They could admit the 169/3.8 instead of having to choose the 171/3.6.
This might be some evidence of that. Or UVA just didn't like me lol. Oh well, there's only one thing we can do, carry onward.

Waitlisted at UVA via email this morning.
Went complete early November. Stats: >75th LSAT, 25-50th GPA. I did write a Why UVA.
UVA wasn't my first choice, but still disappointing as I would have loved to have the option. Do they admit a lot of people off the waitlist?
Last year 20% of their entering class was off the WL. Or at least that's what someone said in another thread,
Okay. Another question, are all the waitlist emails the same? They gave me a bunch of boilerplate about how "incredibly strong" of an applicant I am, and I wasn't sure if that's standard, or indicates a YP play or something? Then they said something about "managing enrollment" and "avoiding bringing in too large a class." Maybe I was too eager? lol Here's what they wrote if anyone wants to compare:
We have completed review of your application for fall 2014 admission to University of Virginia School of Law.
To date, we have reviewed thousands of applications and are seeing incredibly strong candidates in our applicant pool. You are one of those very strong candidates and we commend you for your extraordinary accomplishments. As we try to manage our enrollment and avoid bringing in a class that is too large, we are proceeding cautiously and are inviting you, along with a number of other outstanding candidates, to be on our wait list. The wait list is a very important part of our admissions process.
As in last year’s admissions cycle, we expect to make a number of offers of admission to wait-listed candidates during May, June, and July. We believe that you would excel at Virginia Law and we hope to be able to offer you admission. We will do our best to have a final decision for you as soon as possible.
If you wish to supplement your application with additional information at any point, please feel free to do so. And please note that we do not rank our wait list. When we are able to make offers of admission to wait-listed candidates, we will review the entire list.
We thank you for your patience throughout this process.
I had that same letter, in the first wave of waitlists (1/2/14).
Same

Sorry to hear about the WL you guys. Knocked down but not out, though. UVA may still be an option by this summer.
Is anyone out there still sitting pretty from a Sept/October submit without hearing anything from UVA? So that's two waves of WL and not a word.....

I don't really want to go to UVA, it was more of a back-up/seeing what scholarships I could grab. So I didn't bother with a Why X. That may be why I was rejected.
I really have no intention of submitting an LOCI.
Wait List as well. GPA > 75, LSAT > 50. I applied for the same reasons.
I received the same letter as the others. Good luck to everyone else!

When did all of you YP WLers go complete, if you don't mind sharing?

Makes sense. Most t-14s have collectively taken a hit and the lsat score of 170 is no longer as vital. When apps rebound, and schools start vying for a 170 median, splitters like us will be better off than we are now

Not necessarily sure I'm YP, but I went complete in the first few days of November.

I certainly don't think I have anything extra special about my app, but I'm a 171/3.6 admit way back in November. I'm also only one point in a wide range of statistics, but that's my info FWIW

Are you a Virginia resident? That's another thing we have to keep in mind; they have to admit a large percentage of VA residents.

Aw I like your lurker friend

. I was a little surprised, but my GPA is a sort of low for them, so there's that to keep in mind. I'm not a VA resident and that doesn't help either.
I just must not have been quite what they are looking for. I'm still holding out hope for getting off the waitlist, but the continued wait isn't appealing

I really feel for all those waitlisted, I do.
But is it possible they picked out some of the more transparent apps for WL today?

I don't think mine was like that.
I really did write a genuine Why UVA, and while it wasn't my top choice, I would have loved to attend there for the right price. My goal is DC, so UVA was/is definitely towards the top of my list.

I see.
I'd be interested to see your status on the waitlist after a LOCI and such.

LS22- I think I am only half supporting your theory since my GPA is below median. Also you're going to have some some amazing schools to choose from, so don't worry!
