you could try flying into San Antonio and driving up to Austin -- about a 1.5hour easy drive up.arrggg wrote:Yea I probably won't end up visiting since it's prohibitively expensive even with the travel stipend.risa wrote:Seriously. Call and ask. My scholarship got lost in the mail. I called like a month or more after I was accepted and they just emailed me a copy of the letter. If it's been two weeks and you don't have anything, call and ask financial aid. They're super nice.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Got my acceptance phone call on 2/25 and the snail mail admissions packet a few days after that, but radio silence since then. Does this mean I'm not getting any scholly from them? I would be surprised given my numbers and offers from peer schools... How long should I wait before contacting them to see what's up?

Ding! Nice email at 7:30 this morning as well as a status checker change to "Application was denied on March 14." While I had no intention of attending Texas, still a disappointing start to the morning. Fuck 'em.

Shit happens. That's the beauty of this whole ordeal. It's always going to be slightly unpredictable. Makes it more fun for all of us.timeandspace11 wrote: Really surprised you got dinged

How do you know if you got a travel stipend? I emailed their office and they said "Travel scholarship offers are merit-based and are sent following the admission offer. The scholarship is available to admitted students who fall within the scholarship criteria." I haven't gotten one. Does it come in the mail, or by e-mail? How long after the scholarship offer? I really want to get out and visit the campus.timeandspace11 wrote:Flights were prohibitively expensive for me too. Im actually taking a greyhound bus to Austin. When were you accepted? You probably should have already gotten one by now. Dont take this as gospel but I thought I read somewhere that you need to be out of state and have at least a 169 and above a 3.6 to qualify. I spoke with the admissions office to try and get one. They were very friendly but wouldnt give me one.

Just accepted a few days ago. I am out of state but damn, just missed the requirement (if indeed that is it).

I got accepted with a 162 (my gpa is a 4.0) and I retook in february and got a 166. Does anyone know if they'll consider giving me any $ with my stats? I read earlier you had to have at least a 168, but is it somewhat flexible given my GPA?

From the admits' facebook page (this was posted by Dean Ingram): "We do not offer travel stipends. However, we offer travel scholarships for a limited number of admitted students to attend our ASD program/OMVs (Organized Mini-Visits). Travel Scholarship Offers will be sent late January/February. Merit criteria for travel scholarships begins at a 169/3.6 for admitted students currently residing outside the state of Texas."ironbmike wrote:Just accepted a few days ago. Also, I got a response to my matching request (denied). Happy to share specifics via PM, or look at my LSN (in profile) and you can probably figure it out yourself.

That is shocking to me! You have many competitive if not BETTER offers. Are you still considering UT at this point?risa wrote:From the admits' facebook page (this was posted by Dean Ingram): "We do not offer travel stipends. I am with you ant eater. We will hear within a week I would bet (they are probably aware that we have April 1 scholarship acceptance deadlines... it is not their first time arround the block).
