I'm a reapplicant and didn't get the email last year either. I don't want to be an alarmist but I remember that not getting the email was pretty bad news.

Any actual numbers on that? Or was that just the general feeling last year?

Side note: Every time I get an email such as this from Michigan or any other school, I instantly think "I bet this school's thread is lively right now." I love you, TLS.

Got the e-mail. Like everything else from Michigan so far, it was flattering and worded in such a way that I quickly forgave what a tease it was. I hope it's a good sign.

Who knows. They also seem to be coming in to different people as the day goes on, so maybe you'll get one soon.

They do explicitly say that the e-mail goes to applicants that aren't already slated for a given decision either way, implying that if you didn't get it, they have made a decision on your file.

Not to be alarmist, that's just how it reads.

I read that as "made a decision on your life."

I wouldn't take it quite that far.
