Checking in. Need-based fee waiver granted today, just submitted the application. I am hoping my being a URM will give me a slight chance.

Has anyone tried negotiating scholarships with UVA yet? Or is it too early?

Just got an email saying to call the Director of Admissions, unfortunately the phone is busy. The wait is killing me

is anybody else finding uvas first deposit deadline of april 4th prohibitively early? is this designed so we dont hear of financial packages from other schools in time? i get that you can double deposit but tbh i dont have $500 to just throw away. let me know if anybody else has this concern and how they are addressing it.

thanks

It is definitely way too early but I think the best strategy is to wait until the last few days that you can send it in and then decide based on whatever information you have at that point.

It comes (if applicable) in a letter with your admittance packet.

So if you don't get a merit aid scholarship with the acceptance packet, does that mean you aren't getting one?

UVA sends out a formal Financial Aid package that includes loans, scholarships, etc. to all admited applicants (maybe first-deposit applicants?) at some point. I thought it was in march but Im not sure.

You're brave, asking for numbers. I've been avoiding them because I'm afraid I'll see someone get in RD with my numbers and it'll make me think I was crazy to ED and give up the chance at money.

How long does UVA normally take for RD?

I'm complete 12/5 and nary a peep since - I wasn't worried but now I am.

LSN seems to suggest that you're okay for now. (Or at least that's what I'm telling myself since I went complete around the same time). Sorted by decision, with the exception of a few outliers, most of the decisions they've made have been for for folks who Sept/Oct/pre-Thanskgiving Nov. I'm no Regulus, but I don't see cause to be too concerned quite yet.
