Fair enough, but there's also a need to do on-line research (e.g. Westlaw) and then, chances are, you will need considerable computer skills when you get a job after graduation. It's just a practical lifeskill for our generation. Also, I'm sure that prosen was probably joking, but then again, so was I.

I'm rarely ever serious. Though, there seriously are people sitting in your room during finals who can assist you with button pushing and the like.

One more serious thing. You are forced to take a research class which is painfully boring (P/NP) and repetitiously instructs you how to do these things. If you have trouble you're more than welcome to pay attention. Otherwise you can check ESPN/shop online/TLS/whatever else you will inevitably do during boring classes.

We get Westlaw Next and Lexis Advance now. This training has become obsolete.

Be fairly specific in your LOCI about what attracts you to Fordham. Scour their website to find clinicals, classes, clubs, or anything else you think you'll like. On your visit, ask about those things. Then, in your letter, you can write about that (bonus points if it's something your tour guide is involved in, and you can say that he/she made you even more excited to be involved) and why Fordham is your top choice because of programs like it.

I did that, plus an extra LOR, and it worked in my particular case.

Note bene: be honest and don't go overboard. Convey your excitement but don't make them think you're crazy.

Been creeping on the thread...where's the meet-up for Saturday? Lincoln Park? Gin Mill? Is there a consensus?

I haven't been to either but I would vote for LP just because it's closer.

It's my only day in New York and I was thinking about leaving after the breakout sessions

To make good use of your time, after ASD, you should walk east untill you hit columbus circle, then head down broadway.
It'll take you to times square. A little further down you'll hit Macy's
Then, when you get to 34th street, head east, until you hit the empire state building. Go up if you want.
Then walk north along 5th avenue until you hit FAO Schwartz (play with the toys, you know you want to) and the apple store.
Then walk into central park, meander a while, then head back towards columbus circle.

After that, walk up Broadway, until you hit 70th street. Walk into Sabon (soap shop) and wash your hands. (no really)
Then get some hot dogs at gray's Papaya. Then walk up Columbus, about 2-3 blocks, enter Jacques Torres and get some hot chocolate for dessert. Now turn around and walk back down columbus and back to the law school to get back to where you started (if you want)

Thanks for the tips! Can't wait to be there. Also hopefully I can meet up with some of you for drinks. I wonder if any bars open before ASD registration does?

I visited the campus and talked to the associate director of admissions over a week ago, sent her a thank you email/LOCI right after I got back. she never replied or confirmed that she got the email..I wonder if I should send another version of the LOCI directly to the admissions office...
