This, there were a few half-rides given out after ASW last year. Also I was accepted and received my scholarship on the day of ASW via email.. and I was given 2 weeks to send a deposit.

That sucks. They must have decided that they needed some more people last minute.
I won't send deposits until they are due. Hopefully there will be money from Iowa. I'm honestly not sure I can afford Iowa even with a full ride though since I still have to make house payments in Des Moines.

Received snail-mail from the Financial Services Dept. at Iowa. In it was a form to clarify if I was a self-supporting student or not.
I don't understand why my FAFSA couldn't have answered this question for them, as it has been submitted since Jan. 1.
Still no scholly information.

I think that was me a while back. Not nice to send things other than money and acceptances to 0Ls IMHO.

I received my Iowa LOF (Law Opportunity Fellowship) today in the mail. So excited. I think I have read it about 25 times and it has taken awhile to set in.
On the cutthroat note, per Illinois' request, I have e-mailed a copy of the scholarship to UIUC. They have been reviewing their budget to see if they could match Iowa for 100% tuition, and indicated they will let me know once they receive a copy of the letter. #USA #Iowa

How would you guys recommend asking them if it is possible to have the stipulations removed? A nice email vaguely mentioning it? Flat out asking?

They also guaranty no tuition increases while you're there!

You know what I just noticed? Both Iowa and WUStL claim to be the oldest continuously operating law school West of the Mississippi.

Yeah, and there are others, too. Mizzou claimed it as well when I visited a few weeks ago, but they're lying.

FTFY.
After that scandal at Illinois, their numbers are barely better than ours, and we will probably surpass them in ranks. Pure speculation of course.
Also, Iowa City >>>>>> Champaign
Only thing UIUC would be better for would be if your heart is set on Chicago... And even then, I'm not sure what the number-fudging will do with that school's reputation in Chicago.

Nice. I use that expression a lot. So much that people ask me what it means. I tell them it means approaching everything with a "prove it" attitude.

I'm not for sure, but I might (yes, I realize that that isn't what you asked), and I would be interested in a TLS meetup IF I go. I may also be there for David Cross, which I think is the following weekend.

I booked my flight today, and I'm in for a TLS meet up, provided there is alcohol involved.

It takes far more than the weekend to get acquainted with the IC bar scene. It takes about a semester of intense study IMO.
