Getting antsy now that other mid-November applicants are getting calls (congrats, btw!). Please make lots more calls before Christmas!

Mine requires good academic standing, which is a 2.3 GPA and to basically maintain good behavior.bobbyh1919 wrote:Anyone know what kind of stipulations go on the scholarships? "Good academic standing" is so much more desirable than a 3.3 GPA or something like that.

Yeah a call this early in the cycle was definitely unexpected. Good luck to all the other splitters!emkay625 wrote:Your gpa gives me hope my friend.scottybared wrote:Anyone know when ASW is? They told me on the phone call, but I was so excited I didn't really catch it.

Ok, is anyone else confused? I know yesterday there was much hubbub on this thread about this change in the header.crumpledq wrote:
The first sentence of the header went from "Your application for admission to the University of Virginia School of Law is complete." to "Your application for admission to the University of Virginia School of Law is complete AND IS UNDER CONSIDERATION BY THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE" (caps for emphasis only). Also, they removed the second sentence that said "If you would like to learn more information about how Admissions Office decisions are communicated to applicants, please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the U.Va. Law website (http://www.law.virginia.edu/admissions)."
are people thinking that this change is a "status change" (from complete to under review)?
I didn't think that this was a status change. I was thinking that it was just a change in their terminology and standard wording to indicate that under their process, all people who are complete are also under review.

based on the fact that I got in a mere few hours after my header changed, I think that not too much should be read into it, the process has been happening and is still happening much as before
course, who am I and what do I know?? haha

Well, I assume they're back, because I just got in via phone call about an hour ago. #s are in the profile; submitted mid-November; OOS applicant. I was also told on the call that I received a half-tuition scholarship as part of the school's partnership with TFA.Take Two wrote:Hey does anyone know when the admissions staff is leaving/returning for the break?
Good luck to everyone still waiting; I hope this means many more pre-New Years calls.
FWIW: I did not write a "Why UVA" essay initially, but sent one as a supplement about three weeks ago. While I don't know if this helped, for everyone debating whether to send a supplementary essay, it obviously didn't hurt.

Congrats, danielhay! I am almost sure I'm getting WL'd/ dinged at UVA. I have been complete since early Nov (applied slightly before Halloween). No Why UVA. Lots of acceptances from people who submitted after me. Oy.

Same dates here. Pretty certain I'm out at UVA but it's not killing me. Can't win em all!amc987 wrote:Congrats, danielhay! I am almost sure I'm getting WL'd/ dinged at UVA. +1, except that I did write a 'Why UVA." I'm unlikely to attend UVA over GULC or NYU, though, so I guess I wouldn't be devastated. But I do really like some of their clinical programs and their placement in the DC market.amc987 wrote:Congrats, danielhay! I am almost sure I'm getting WL'd/ dinged at UVA. UVA wins for the most bizarre t14 acceptance cadence this year. It's all over the place.amc987 wrote:Congrats, danielhay! I am almost sure I'm getting WL'd/ dinged at UVA. I'm not saying it looks good, but I don't think it's as rolling as at, say, NYU.

Thanks, addy and Take_Two! I am not losing hope. And I guess you can't win them all. I'm just saying I think my odds may not be that great. I hope to be proven wrong, UVA, haha. Good luck everyone!

That sucks. I have to admit I'm surprised given your numbers. This was your ED after the Columbia ED, right? You're having a really strange cycle so far. I think you'll get something though. Some T14 is going to bite on that 177.Tim0thy222 wrote:Waitlisted today. ED applicant, submitted 12/15, numbers in profile.

I have a slightly higher LSAT and a significantly lower GPA, and I've gotten into two T14s so far. You'll be fine, if my cycle is any indication for splitters like you and me.Tim0thy222 wrote:Waitlisted today. ED applicant, submitted 12/15, numbers in profile.

Yeah it was NYU not Columbia, but same thing. I was already admitted to Georgetown and I'd be happy there, so I'm not worried about it. I think to NYU there is a world of difference between a 3.2 and a 3.3, which I wish I would've figured out before EDing there. This UVA result is a little more surprising, but I think it may be either because I applied so late or because of my complete lack of softs.crumpledq wrote: I have a slightly higher LSAT and a significantly lower GPA, and I've gotten into two T14s so far. Or I COULD wait a year, ED UVA in early september and ED Penn if that doesn't work, but damn, I already waited one year, I don't want to wait another. Especially considering I do already have Georgetown.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I submitted way early in the cycle, OOS applicant, reverse splitter, have not heard a thing! I've been admitted to Georgetown, so I do have a good option, but I'm also wondering why I haven't heard from UVA

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
my application had some pretty rapid turnaround, while other seemingly equally or more qualified candidates have heard next to nothing. Seems the process is happening a little haphazardly, at least in my largely baseless opinionquaker10 wrote:I submitted way early in the cycle, OOS applicant, reverse splitter, have not heard a thing! Got the acceptance call yesterday. I'm still in shock. Didn't think there was any chance. 162/3.91. Good softs. Have some research to do. Congrats to everyone who has gotten in.
