yeah, makes sense. i wonder if theyll start to move onto the early november submitters too.
looking at last years thread, it definitely seems like this cycle is a little slower, and it's about time that all of these mid-november URs / recent completes start to see some action.

It also seems like numerical "requirements" for receiving KB1s have not been drastically altered.
Most non-URMs have had amazing GPAs, with a lot of below- or near-median LSAT scores receiving KB1s and KB2s.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
To me it would make sense to think that if they do have to be a little more lenient on acceptances this year that it wouldn't appear until towards the end of the cycle when they have a better picture of the pool of applicants. There'd just be no reason to accept borderline candidates now expecting the need to when they can just hold those people and wait til later. Sooo my prediction is that we're gonna see more people that get held get in late this year than previous ones. One can hope..?addy11 wrote:It also seems like numerical "requirements" for receiving KB1s have not been drastically altered.

Well, I've also heard tell from people who might in fact know what they're talking about that Harvard is one of the few places that has the luxury of caring where you went to undergrad in assessing your GPA (because they're not really competing for rank with anyone). So unlike a lot of schools where a 4.0 in Basket Weaving from North Bumblef@#% A&M goes farther than a 3.75 in (hard subject) from (top undergrad program), the HLS admissions office might actually be looking at where you got that GPA in thinking about whether to admit you.ladybug89 wrote:my gpa is in the low 3.8s/below median, so not so amazing. there's hope for everyone!addy11 wrote:It also seems like numerical "requirements" for receiving KB1s have not been drastically altered.

I had a ~25th GPA at a t30 program in a major that was pretty run of the mill for liberal arts programs... neither excessively difficult nor easy. I'm hoping that my redemption comes in the form of them recognizing a strong upward trend in grades (didn't call attention to it because I didn't know how to explain it without seeming whiny) and the fact that my GPA (though low for HLS) was >.5 above undergraduate school median and top 10%.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
There haven't been many people with 11/10 complete dates who have posted about receiving KB1s either. In fact, it seems like there haven't been many KB1s that have gone out at all since the first round of KB2s last week. I know that TLS is a small sample size, but still it seems like there would have been more recipients on TLS if Harvard had sent out a huge number of interview invites. Maybe more will come out this week? Or maybe there's something to what other posters have said about more people being held this year... It's kind of a black box atm, especially since KB seems not to be sticking with the schedule from previous cycles.Zelda wrote: ...and if more people with a 11/17 complete date get KB1s, since only two have posted so far!

Exactly. As much as I want to use previous cycles as a basis of comparison for this one, ours seems truly to be unique. It would be brilliant to have more KB1s this week, but the only thing we can expect is to have no expectation whatsoever.amc987 wrote:There haven't been many people with 11/10 complete dates who have posted about receiving KB1s either. Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
I think the 2 big differences, the first obviously specific to Harvard, is that KB has started later in the process with giving out phone interviews and so predicting when kb1's will go out becomes tough, and the big drop in LSAT takers the past few administrations is causing a lot of people to think medians will have to drop this year and so how adcomms are gonna handle that remains to be seen.Themaddh wrote:How has this cycle been so unique?euskadi wrote:Exactly. Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
to my knowledge, everyone who got an early kb1 got accepted except for one. I'm pulling for you AP!!!! U can do it!tt102 wrote:So of the earliest KB1s here on TLS, how many of them were accepted?
Another question: do you think an early or "first pass" KB1 -- as in, getting a KB1 when they first go through the applicants who went complete on the same date as you -- has a higher chance of admission than KB1s offered later in the season?
I know we always hear the 800/1100 ratio, but I'm trying to break down how the chances might look at different points in the admissions cycle...
Thanks!
