I had EXACTLY these stats (including URM) and was flat-out rejected. I hope you have better luck than me!!

I don't think I will attend BU, but I'm interested in what kind of merit aid they'll offer me (GPA at median, LSAT 5+ points above median). I got my acceptance call a couple of weeks ago. How long after acceptances have merit offers typically come in?
I'm above both 75ths and got full tuition in the acceptance packet.
Those of you with high numbers (over 75th %ile) who've gotten in already, did you do anything special in your app to indicate why BU specifically would be a good choice for you? I wonder if BU is currently starting with the higher applicants who they have reason to believe will actually attend?
I didn't do any "why x's" in any of my apps, mainly because it would have looked like a weak afterthought tacked on to the end of my PS.
I live in Boston, as does my SO, and have been working here for several years. I sort of figured that the adcomms could deduce on their own that I might have reasons for wanting to stay in the area rather than go to a "better" ranked school elsewhere.... but now I'm starting to second guess whether they would really note that.

Guys, the first sentence says "Thanks for your application to BU Law". Relax.

It probably means nothing. But I got the "week in the life" email about a week before my acceptance in December.

Re: Aid Offers
BU apparently likes to wait to send out mixed merit/need-based awards after people have submitted FAFSA's, etc. so to those who didn't receive anything in the acceptance packet (like moi) don't despair just yet.
I called admissions yesterday to see if they send out merit offers after the acceptance packet and the girl seemed to think that was rare, but that they do send out offers after people apply for need based and that can have merit aid in it, too. Weird system if you ask me, but if it gets me money I won't complain.

i think he/she is surprised that you wrote a LOCI (essentially) to a safety of safeties given your stats
Haha.. After sweeping HYS and getting a full ride at Columbia, I would not be sending LOCI's to BU.
Alas, I'm not in that spot..
I sent the supplemental essay as part of the initial application, before I received any acceptances. It's not really a LOCI. I sent such an essay to most of the schools to which I applied; they're not "why whatevers," just extra essays.

It's not that exciting to view the incredibly anal color-coded daily schedules of BU students.

+1. If anything, the email was an un-selling job.

It's great that there is nothing to miss.
BUT...
To me, the point is whether the act of getting or not getting this email signifies anything.

It doesn't mean anything except BU has a random system of mass emailing applicants. Sorry to have added fuel to the fire.

BU emailed me yesterday and asked to submit an official transcript with last semester's grades. I'm so nervous. My upward trend was broken last semester, but I still brought up my cumulative GPA.
On the one hand, if they were totally into numbers, they would have already rejected me. It's something else they like (if I had to guess I'd say my PS, GPA addendum was a big help.)
On the other hand, if it really IS something else they like, and they're willing to overlook the numbers, why do my grades last semester matter?
Thoughts? Please...I'm dying here.

I'm a 164/3.75 and had to send in my transcript as well. I have no extraordinary softs and I feel that if they wanted to WL or reject me...they could have already done it. There is NO reason to ask someone for their transcript and then WL or reject them(assuming GPA stays the same or goes up just a little bit like mine did).
I'm trying to be optimistic and assume that they only wanted to make sure my grades stayed the same and will admit me.

I think that if it raises your cumulative you should be fine. How big of a dropoff was it from the upward trend?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
